We bought the '85 Colt for him to learn in, the only problem now is that he may grow out of it before he finishes.......Going through a driving school costs too much...having said that he will go for 'professional' driving lessons a month or two before he goes for his Provisional Licence....

But....before that....I'm paying for him to do the Motorcycle Courses and buying him a bike...that way I, or his mum, no longer have to run him around. And because I'm buying the bike I get a really big say in what he gets, unfortunately he doesn't fit on an RS125 or a NSR150, infact there's not many 250's he'll fit on to.

He too wants to go to the Once Bitten, but I laid down the law and told him that he can't go to anymore until he can ride there himself...he's already been to 2 of the Once Bittens...and was introduced to Packy, who promptly offered him a 'smoke' :duh: . He's also been to the SR500, so he's not a total Rally Virgen....

As for them leaving home...well my old man said that us kids cost him more AFTER we moved out then we did when we lived at home....

Paki, hmmm.
I'd love him to try that with K.B.
She is so anti drug.....
We may well find him in the ash tray again.
She really is that anti drug.
Might have to leash her up for the week end.
Mind you she will get alone with the girls, if ya know what I mean.

The good thing with Paki, is he'll offer once and if you give a polite, I wouldn't be anything but polite with Paki, but firm NO THANKS, he won't offer again....

Oh I see, she likes 'pink' bikes too.....

KB and the word polite, can not be used in the same sentence.
No I'm sure she would be with strangers, and then one look, at paki, after an hour or 2 of partying, I think she would be shyte scared of him.
But anyway thats not a problem now she is now packing her bags again,  :duh: and is now off to S.A. So any croweaters out there beware the redheaded K.B. is heading your way  . Pink bike, ohh , more like any bike. Kids, ya gotta love them, but shyte me not, they sure do confuse the F*#* outta me. Its little wonder I love my shed and the bikes with in it, my little spot of heaven. :beers:

Mate, you've got two problems there, not only is KB a kid, which are hard  enough to understand, but (stating the obvious) she's a she, therefore you have no hope of understanding what's going on..... :duh:  :duh:

Thank the good Lord I was blessed with 2 boys...

Bikes are packed, hmm what a weekend getting both bikes ship shape for the ride. For some stupid reason when I took the rear wheel off the Bandit, to replace the tyre. I looked at the half assed job I did 12 months back polishing the whole rear wheel. Yep spent another 12 hrs + doing it all again. :duh: Still not perfect but I must say a whole lot better  So along with the new disc, disc pads, and a completely stripped down cleaned up and kitted caliper. Oil and filter changed, and seviced, cleaned and polished. Thats just the B6. New chain, and sprockets, oil and filter change, serviced, and again loose and missing bolts, cleaned and polished, for the Rex all done in the shed at home, no big deal hey, wrong it was 40c+ down here, and in the tin shed, I would hate to think what it was in there even with all the doors and windows open. But its all done, and we roll out appox 4:30pm tomorrow, slight change of plan. With the high temps expected on thursday heading north to the border, we are now heading to Bainsdale for the night before heading to Cann river and then north to the capital. Hopefully should make it there around midday, so we can make use of that salt water pool at the motel  and the bar of course :beers: Send some pic's this way when we get back Monday.

Well, we made it back with not a hitch for the 4 ½ days. Both bikes ran perfectly.
The change of plan to head east along the coast and run inland from Cann River was the right choose indeed. Unbeknown to us the HOG had its annual run at Jinderbyne, so indeed bypassing one of our favorite roads, and the mobile road blocks, was a blessing.
How many? Thousands of them! Wednesday evening we left as planned around 4:30 and comfortably rolled into Bairnsdale around 7:30.  Next morning with the temp already hot, and heading to an expected top of 40c, we hit the road, gassed up and rolling at 7:20am. We tried the new Hwy thru Bruthen, great road, bypasses Lakes Entrance, bummer bout the last 10 k’s of loose large unpacked gravel. Back on to the main Hwy and, bugger all traffic, but one traffic cop, and we did kinda get his attention, hmm. Ooophs. Gassed up and rolling out of Cann River, and the heat was on, Muscle top and flow through Rjays jacket and jeans, was getting uncomfortable. But as we headed north and climbed in to the hills the temp, seemed a bit more bearable. Again we made good time and in under 2 hrs, was gassed up and heading north out of Cooma. Now we all know about the Hwy between Cooma and Canberra. Yep we was very good little peoples on this stretch, mind you with all the HOGS heading the other way, the cops had plenty to do with out even looking at us lowly Jap bike riders. We rolled into Canberra right on midday, missed the 21 gun salute for Australia day but caught the end of the RAAF doing their thing. Yep the salt water pool was great. So was the Bar. Next to the pool too. The awareness rally on Saturday was great but the weather was hot and mighty humid, yuck, horrible, but what we do, to remind them pollies, that in fact we are many and we vote. The trip home was the same way but in one day, with a start around 7:30, just as hot, and even more fun between Cooma and Cann River, oppphs, 38 litres of fuel between the 2 of us, hmmmm, but it was fun, we kind made a rule for this section, no brakes and no gear changes, so in fact it was fast and smooth. And we still chewed 38 litres of fuel, 180 k’s, yep still trying to wipe the illegal grin from our chins. With an hour or so break back in Bairnsdale and a Mac attack. I think we rolled up the drive way around 3pm ish.
Here are some pics of the rally.

Well, I was thinking of you on the weekend.....riding bikes in 38+ temperatures.....while I was sitting in my air conditioned lounge room watching the Long Way Round and pay tv, then Stone, then Biker Boyz, Ghost Rider and Reasonable Doubt.

I was supposed to go to Jingellic, but to be honest it was to hot for me to be on the bike....I've done one ride from Melbourne to Wagga in that sort of heat and I've never been so sick after a ride in my life, so I made a deal with my body not to do it again and it won't punish me for two days after.....

Ya, I know I'm a whimp.... :duh:

Sounds like you had fun though, but it got bugger all coverage on the Tele here, typical though.

We'll be doing similar roads on the 12th of Feb - Wagga - Tumut - Admaninaby - Kiandra - Cabrummura - Tumbarumba - Wagga.

Glad you made it back licence still intact.....

Yep, Win tv was there, but I think they canned the coverage, cause it didn't even make the news on Canberra tv news, Like they didn't know it was on :duh:

But with a little luck the pollies, will go a have a little talk to the anti bike numpty who wrote, the total crap about lane splitting and filtering, and tell him/her, to at least research the facts before recomending law changes. The less I say the better I think, cause bullshyte laws from bullshyte numpty heads, who really have no idea about any kind of road safety, unless it has volvo badges on it. It would be so easy to scream ontop of my soapbox, because these asswipes really gets up my nose, but I figure you'll all know what I mean.

And yes license's intact, well as far as we know, those nasty little hidden camera's, can give you a bit of a bitter taste, 3 to 4 weeks after the fact. Fingers crossed.

The Awareness Ride got a small amount of coverage on the Brisbane news - probably only because of sound bite from Brendon Nelson....

Well, if the voice of public opinion doesn't get the pollies thinking then we're all F$%ked.  I don't know if you read AMCN or Two Wheels, but they both be covering the anti lane splitting issue.  As usual, it would appear, as you say, that some numpty has gotten rather peeved at and jealous of a motorcyclist for getting to the next set of lights before him and has decided that it's time for the 'fun police' to take action against a, if done with due consideration and thought, perectly safe and reasonable thing to do.

Apparently it's all got to do with equity among road users - so my theory is that if we motorcyclists have to prove that we can perform an emergancy stop, swerve and avoid hazards before we're allowed on the road, then so should car drivers. Also, if they want equity way is it that a Heavy Vehicle Driver has to maintain a log book of distance/time travelled and rest/sleep periods, why shouldn't car drivers.

Yes, you have a valid point. I was a country Cabbie, and there is no, laws or requirement for a cabbie, who I would think carries a more priceless cargo than a truck, to have rest periods. The company I worked for, or should I say one asshole director, at the end of a 12 hour shift, told me, not asked me to continue working another 12 hour shift. I rang the governing body in Vic for the taxis, the VTD, and they told me he was within his rights. Hows that for OH&S, and I know for a fact that most weekend drivers do hungry shifts(industry talk for 24 hrs and 48 hrs straight) and it happens with the VTD knowing all about it. Needless to say I didn't stay in that game for long after Little Hitler rose to power in that little company. What about adhock courier drivers 12, 14hrs a day is not uncommon, without breaks. No laws governing them either.

I could go on, but won't. :bigok:
But if efen car drivers want equality of the road, only sell covertables with no tops, see how they like equality, in the first thunder storm. Make them wear helmets, over their $200 hairdoes.
Just another bunch of narrow minded dickbrains, with nothing better to bitch about.

Not all car drivers a complete knobs - just the ones that make stupid policies that make no sense and simply impose another type of Tax on otherwise law abiding people....

Yes your right Mick, I stand corrected, hows does 99% sound of which 1% can and do pull strings, to get bullshyte laws. Just because 1 little, big man had to sit in his cage, and miss 2 sets of lights and a motorbike went straight to the head of the que.( and probably scared the poor fella too)  I bet he was the sort of shyte who would leave key scratches down the side of Hotrods and such. With the shyte head thoughts of, If I can not have one just like it neither should they. Grrrrrr.
How do these people get jobs that they can change laws just because they think its wrong, where is the research, which we have been demanding. Truth is there is none. Its 1 little wessel, with an attitude problem, problem is the pollies think he has done his job.
