Hi guys, hope ya all had a great christmas. I did. :grin:
Santa dropped all sorts of motorcycle related goodies under the tree.
Anyway enough of that stuff. Me and the good woman have been having a great time up here in the snowy mountains, weather has been 30+ c every day, just one day was really windy,(the only fault so far) Been out riding everyday and touch wood have not fallen prey to the evil of NSW and the double fine double points. By luck only. some of the roads just suck ypu in big time, look down at the speedo and oophs 140 150 on the clock. ckeck the mirrors and all I can see is the jolly green bandit, oh well if shyte is going to happen its going to happen. Note for any one else heading this way watch out for the snakes. had a few close calls. Not nice when they rear up at the lead bike only a half second later the 2nd bike flies past. Guess I would get pissed too if some bastard just flew passed my head, while having a nap. :duh:

If you think it's hot up in the hills, you should try it down here on the flats.
It's got to the stage where I'm putting the saying "If it's too hot to wear the right gear, then it's too hot to ride" into practice. 35+ is just too hot for me.
The only reason I'm riding to work is that the little Colt doesn't have A/C but does have the good old vinal seats and is hotter than the bike, even with leathers on.

The weather is great here in my part of the Northern Hemisphere. Thanks to Red 1 and the rest of the West Coast gang for sending these rain showers every few days, it has kept the polar lows from coming down and freezing our muffler bearings off. This years New Years day ride we be in the low 60’s (that would be in the mid teens for you down under). Beats the hell out of last years ride in the mid 30’s. So all in all it looks like 2006 is going to start off as a good riding year for us in the Mid Atlantic states.

Been bloody hot here in SE Queensland as well.
The Bandit has pretty much stayed in the shed ocer Christmas - except for one early moring ride (left about 6 AM got back about 9:30 - and I was already sweating....)

We've managed to keep enough here to keep our roads wet and temps in the mid 50's (12-14*C), too.
Are we good or what? :wink:

Well over the New Year long weekend, I even had to turn the PC off 'cause it was overheating.
Oh well, that just meant that I HAD to sit in the lounge room (the only room with A/C), and watch Pay TV, Videos and DVD's. I just love Ghost Rider.
By the way, I hope you're time away in the hills is going well Mick.

Wow what a week of riding, 2661 k's round trip.
Bikes ran perfect not one hiccup for the whole trip, not even a shyte batch of fuel. Weather, well hot for our time up in the snowy mountains.
But, yes there is always a but, the day we left for the coast, it hit 40c plus(new years eve). was real glad to roll into Batemans Bay after 4 hrs of holiday traffic, Kings hwy usaully a blast was in one word horrid.
New years day saw 44c, Aussie I'm glad I was on the coast, not out in the middle of them there plains. Mind you the salt water pool just out side the motel door was a treat. And them there stubbies of beer shore did touch the spot. The ride home today hmm 760 odd k's, holiday traffic' left at 8am hit home at 6pm. But the weather had changed to rain and drizzle to Bega, then a dry run all the way.
Ohh yeh Happy new year, and f*#* me standing the price of fuel, is bull shyte up there. Glad we had the credit card to max out. :boohoo:

New Years day here was 44. There were pretty bad bush fires in the Junee, Bethunga and Illabo areas, as well as around the Brungle, Tumut and Gundagai district. The latter being a double tradged. Not only did alot of grazing land get burnt and 100's of sheep either killed directly by the fires or having to be shot latter, but the Brungle and Tumut region has some of my favourite riding roads within 2 hours of here.
I'm glad you had a good trouble free break - Janice and myself were planning going for a ride on some of our favourite roads this week but, as you read above, probably not a good idea. We'll still do a day ride somewhere just not up that way for a while.
As for the price of Petrol, you forgot what State you were in, NSW, which, as we all know, stands for Newcastle Sydney Woolongong. If you don't live in one of those areas basically you're phucked.

Hope all levels off for you folk down under soon! Is it so much hotter your saying "maybe there is something to this green house stuff" Or can the elders remember it as hot? No wonder you Aussie's ride so well in other parts! after the heat and dodging the fiercest, AMA or Moto GP tracks are just for fun!!!! :beers:

Yes the weather has changed.
I remember it actually being hotter and drier here in Melbourne, in the summer months. And much colder in the winter months.
So go figure.

As for the weather being hotter or colder....I certainly remember Winter being colder, and summers generally being hotter, but extremes of Temps like we had recently, no. Not even the old timers can remember hotter days.

When I first hit Melbourne in 1975 (before you were walking Mick) I was in Balaclava in a northerly heat wave that had us at 42 C at 10.00 PM. St kilda couldnt move for people on the beach and they even got the mounted units out that late to kerb the piss heads.
Today I see Melbourne headed for 40 C again on Thursday
