Title: REDBACKS ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Post by: aussiebandit on May 31, 2005, 08:00:46 AM
Ok, the last ride was a dismal affair - good company and all that - but the roads where shyte.

So on Sunday, we're going to make up for it and head to the wonderful little town - maybe town isn't the right word, whats smaller than a town - anyway we're going to Humula. Great roads, lots of corners and yes Mick I'm going to try and do 'Gods', if time and the Treasurer permit.

The Humula Citizens Sports people invited us for a BBQ, so how can we refuse.  Good roads, infact Pharking good roads, great company, and a BBQ at a Pub - does life get any better than that......

I only have one word for you Mick. BASTARD

Only because I can't come too
Working all day saturday, riding the scooters with the trailers around town. And Sunday working on the ZRX, should have the new front end sitting in the place of the very bent one.
Got the frame back today, all fixed and straight.
Just about ready to start setting up the shed for another spray job.

Sorry Mick, but you've got to admitt you've got some pretty damn good roads near you - ok they can be over policed and over populated, but good road none the less.

You'll have to post some pics of the REX - you know some before pics, some progress pics and when your finished some pics of the finished product.

Have a great time Mick. I'm a bit envious as the weather here has been and will be terrble for some time.
If you can get an extended weather map of the southern Tasman, you'll see what we are being dealt up with

To be honest Marty, I'd be happy to forgo the ride, or at least wear wet weather gear, and have some rain......

Just come on up here to the US's WA... no shortage of rain gear weather here.
We did just have a freak of nature... a nice weekend followed by a week of forecasted rain. Usually, it's the other way around.  :boohoo:

Yep yah right, but gods road rates up pretty high on the list mate.
Maybe Ive just been working too much and need a whole weekend off, riding some good roads, to recharge the old battery. 2 hr blasts up reefton and back, and riding around the city all day and night just aint cutting the mustard, iff ya know what I mean.

The Rex man, the pitfalls of wrecks, I just keep finding more shyte wrong. Seems that kawasaki forgot to install 2x frame bolts. Which is what bent the frame in the first place. has also punched a whole in the rocker cover. ouch didn't see that one. Arh just another couple of hundred bucks. but same good news got a painter to do the job, man he is good too, seen a few of his jobs of late. candy midnight blue (almost black) with blue pearl over the top. and the dents (x2 ) taken out of the
tank. 1 on the side you really need to look to find it in fact its more of a feel thing, but with almost black paint it will show, the other about the size of a fist where it looks like the bloke who was riding it smashed his olde fella and nuts into it, (now that I bet did bring tears to his eyes, it does mine every time I look at it ). Anyway this painter has quoted me $450:00, labour and materials. Even if I did it myself it would cost me $200 for materials, and god knows how much to pull the bents. So I figure, he can do it and save me a whole lotta grief, setting up the shed etc etc. As for photo's will do some soon watch this space.

So some of the new drama's are bent disc x1 repairable
front wheel a nice bit of run out. repairable
bottom triple clamp bent but again repairable
and of course, the nice little hole in the rocker cover.
standby im sure I'll find more before I finish it.

Why don't you take a weekend off, better still, see if you can take a couple of midweek days as well, and take a trip down to Port Campbell via the GOR. Then come back via the GOR until Lorne then take Wild Dog Creek Road to Winchelsea and Geelong.  From there go to Daylesford via Anakie, Woodend cross country to Wallan then cut back across to King Lake - Reefton Spur and back home.

Hey, that sounds pretty damn good for an "of the top of the head" ride.......I wonder......."Hey Janice, dear, love, sweetie, mother of my children what do you think......."

What a great ride.........absolute blast.

I took it reasonbly easy because I got a new front tyre on Friday, still a great ride, average speed (not saying, you never know who's looking or reading), suffice to say I wasn't the last bike to get to Humula.  The food was hot and the beer, so I'm told, was cold.  Perfect.

Didn't do 'Gods', not enough time.

The Treasurers M750 performed well after a service and a new chain and sproket set, in fact a little too well, jeez she carries some corner speed. And I can't get over how much front tyre she uses, bugger all chicken strip on the front but quite a bit on the back - strange.

Anyway, what did you blokes get up to on the weekend?

As I said before, I'd gladly forgo riding the bike if only we would get some of that wet stuff that supposedly falls from the sky, I think they call it rain.

Ya know, I reckon there's kids around here who wouldn't know what REAL rain was.  They've seen it on the news, but not live.

Shyte Mick, sorry I brought it up......oh guess what...they're predicting rain this weekend

For any new comers, I'd better explain that where I am we're in the clutches of a 4-5 year drought, so at the moment rain would be a good thing.  It's gotten so bad that even some of the local councils are only carrying out emergency road works due to the lack of water.
