Mate with the price the wrecking yards want for some of the parts, I aint got nothing to lose by trying. Yet having said that the new front end was what I thought was kinda cheap, forks and triple clamps, $650, shipped from Sydney. But $100 for cheap as shyte front guard and $250 for a rocker cover, hmm kinda makes ya wonder if they just make up a price as they go along. The muffler I will replace later after I have got it through V.I.V. test and rego, but for now it will at least look good. But back to JB weld have used it on a few bikes and cars often as a temp fix, but it has worked so well, getting round to actually fixing the problem never happened. I fixed a customers V6 GMH motor, with a huge hole in the timing cover, found the missing bits of the cover and simply glued it back together with JB, she was pennyless, and I offered, That it may work. bugger me its still going 100,000 k's later. The little womens friend grumpy sam had an off on her little suzuki across, and holed the alternator cover. fixed it good and proper, painted it, would never know it was broke. We forgot about it, and brought the bike for a courier hack bike. 80,000 k's later still looking good and no oil leak, Mate JB weld is great stuff. Is part of my tool kit on the bike. Just like the air bed repair kit hey Mick :duh:

Air bed repair kits, JB weld kits and 100mph tape, you don't need much else.

1100 mate the last year of the 11's here was 2001.
No going the other direction ( from stock ) going fully naked ( wanting to cash in on the streetfighter market which is just starting to show signs of blooming here in Oz ), paint is going to be midnight blue ( almost black ) with blue pearl, de badged, Just a green painted K on the tank, green 1100 on side covers and a green ZRX, in vinyl on the seat. polished swingarm, lower fork legs, passenger grab rails, and wheel rims. single 7 inch headlight, and a little further down the track a home made muffler system under the engine, hidden by carbon fibre belly pan. Also carbon fibre heel plates, air box covers, and bug screen ala truimph speed triple. Led mini indicators, and major rear fenderectomy. I'll keep posting the pic's as I go.

So that's "a bit" of work for you!
Sounds like it will be awesome!
Those Kwakka's aren't slow either, remember they were THE bike to have in naked bike racing in the late 90's/early 00's in the FX series.

No mate been to busy, getting it ready for VIV test, on thursday and rego friday, had a couple of minor set backs.
That crack in the rocker box, nearly ended in tears.
I fired the beast up on the weekend, thinking I had the job licked.
But after 10 minutes of fast idle and a few good twists of the throttle, I noticed a steady drip of oil.
Traced the problem back to the cracked rocker cover that we thought we had fixed with good old JB weld.
Got a second hand one this evening, and removed the old unit from the engine to find that on the inside the force that crack the outside had in fact knocked a chunk of alloy, about half the size of our old 1 cent piece, sitting prone against one of the exhaust valve springs on number 4.
Just waiting for a fast right hander and a bump to cause major engine damage. Now im waiting for a new gasket, cause the old didnt fair well when the crack happened.
But anyway its nearly there the paint works all back, the only thing I have not finished in the polishing is the rear rims, and gloss black centre and spokes. Speaking of which, suzuki wheels are much easier to polish.
But should have some pics up at the end of next weekend, GP, and all and maybe with some faces of bandit alley. :beers:

Passed the VIV test today, for those not knowing what a VIV test,
its to check all ID numbers and to check repairs to frames. Its to help put a stop to rebirthing, of stat write offs.
So all good, got the roadworthy this afternoon. And I am booked into the Motor reg branch for 8.30 tomorrow morning, then the fun starts, all the stock stuff, like muffler and turn signal lamps, and a few other things, will start to fall off, if you know what I mean. Photos will be up tomorrow night, promise.

Cool,

are you heading to the island on Rex or you just going to sell it without really riding it.....

Post by: B6mick on October 14, 2005, 11:11:01 AM
Yes sir ree, I sure am riding the Rex to the island tomorrow after lunch, and Donna's on the B6. Then its back into the workshop next week, for the start of the mods. God I thought the stock B6 can was quiet, the Rex is insanely quiet,   well till next week anyway :duh: Other than that all I can say for now, is its a grunt machine, strong bottom end and mid range but no topend. Can and new midpipe should be the cure for that, along with the crazy anti polution crap, finding its way from the bike to the rubbish bin. Brakes are awesome, one finger jobs.

It certainly is. If you look even closer you can see that I pushed the tank so far in that the paint came off in several spots.
Needless to say they x-rayed my pelvis at the hospital but all it showed was a set of tremendously swollen plumbs.

Well done on the bike, it looks almost as good as my resurection job.

Mick's photo's don't show of the bike to max. advantage. Having seen the beast in the flesh I'm happy to say-"well done that man!" Great to catch up with you and Donna in Cowes Mick! Let me know what shade of that colour Donna wants for the bike and I'll make it up at work later this week. She can basically have whatever she wants- just let me know.

Hey thanks Rick will take you up on that offer a little way down the track.
Got my hands full at the moment, got 6 or 7 bikes down the shop, all got to be prepared for the all bike drag meet next week end at heathcote.
Should be a hoot, the ZRX will have a new custom made pipe made, well its half finished, some anti pollution crap fell off it too, the timing has somehow advanced  a new timing plate fell into it, ummm lets see. I thinks thats all I can theive from the shop stock for now, got get the boss man to stock a 3kg Nos setup for next meet. Come on folks Two wheel torque's all bike meet, the shows project B12, one of the bikes that needs to be worked on, will be seeing daylight and will be going head to head with the ZRX and boss mans GSX14. Simon the slugie, will be doing head to head runs with his new ZRX12, will be interesting to see the difference between the 11 and the 12.
And of course the B6 will be making an appearance in the 600's class, and hopefully waking up a few of those sports bike riders.

I'm a bad bad boy, just bolted on my new midpipe, hand made at workshop, fitted up to Remus muffler and the stock header pipes.
Went down a 1/2 inch in pipe dia, to increase exhaust pulse speed.
It worked, sounds nice, and nasty. There should be no problem in drowning out the noise of the b6 in full flight, yep, its that loud.
If I don't win at saturdays drag meet at least I should win loudest bike award, with a muffler. :winner:

Mick, is that one of them shinkos on the front??????
Title: Rex Pics
Post by: B6mick on November 28, 2005, 07:46:01 AM
No Mick it is a Meztler, its ok I guess, will do till its worn out, then yes a shinko 005 will be gracing the front, I just put a shinko 190/50/17 on the rerar yesterday, already I can honestly say it shytes all over the bridgestone 020 that was on it. Today was a good day, fitted the new Hel braided lines, I've heard about how good they are blah blah blah. But I shyte you not, the difference is chalk and cheese and it's all good. Hey and they look cool too. Just got back from the two wheel torque tv show, where the Rex featured in an OCD ( shop where I work, yes I know that was a shameless plug ) streeetfighter segment. After 3 days of spit and polish its almost a shame to ride it, bullshyte, it will be grubby by the weekend.
Title: Rex Pics
Post by: aussiebandit on November 29, 2005, 05:25:31 AM
The reason I ask, is that the B12 doesn't like front tyres with a centre groove, sends the front end wobbling and is less than confidence inspiring.

Does the Shinko 005 have the centre groove or is it more like the Metzler M1.

Oh, and us bushies don't get the Torque TV show, bugger , must be a Melbourne thing.

Speaking of washing the bike, I must remember to do mine before Saturday.   Yeah, it's Toy Run time again, only this year I'm not decorating the bike......well maybe just a little...

Post by: B6mick on November 30, 2005, 07:11:37 AM
I know what your saying Mick.
The Fj 12 suffered the same, and for a matter of fact so does the B6.
And to answer your question the shinko fronts 009 and 005 do not have a center rib, or groove for the want of a better word.
I have only used the 005 on the front.
However I dont mind the 009 on the rear of the B6, in fact the 009 rear i'm removing from the B6 soon is the one I was bedding in when we meet up for a blast on gods road. The reason I've gone the 005 on the rear of the Rex is, customer feed back on bikes up and beyond 130 rear wheel Horse power, and bucket loads of grunt, have noted if the 009 is not as grippy and so it should be, being a harder compound, and when tested will cut loose under extreme riding, like who here would do that . But having said that, you have seen for yourself the B6 in action, and the drive I was getting out of corners, mind you it is 30 hp short.
