SV1000 vs VTR1000 VTX1300 vs B12 vs M750
« on: March 25, 2006, 07:20:37 AM »
The Treasurer and myself spent the afternoon riding other peoples bikes.  The local Suzuki/Honda/Ducati/KTM dealer had a ride day on.

Well I took a VTX1300 for a ride and confirmed that I would rather ride a CT110 than a cruiser.

I also took the SV1000 out.   Well what can I say.  If they'd had these jiggers when I bought the B12 I probably would've bought the SV instead.  But I'm a few years older now and I really appreciate the extra comfort of the B12.

The Treasurer took the SV1000 and VTR1000 out and unfortunately really likes the Honda (sorry B6mick I couldn't do anything about it) VTR1000.

She didn't mind the SV1000, but found the riding position a bit to upright.  At this point I suggested that she try the SV1000S, but infortunately they didn't have one.

At the end of the day she admitted that, except for out right power, neither were as much fun as her M750.

So, eventually, when I've paid the B12 off, and we've bought our first born his bike, the Treasurer will probably buy a VTR1000, with some extra goodies, like a set of Staintunes, Corbin seat, carry rack etc etc.

At least it won't be another Italian bike.....

The only serious minus I ever hear mentioned about the VTR is the fuel economy sucks, and isn't helped any by a smallish tank.

NO!!!!! and that is an educated NO - she used to sell Harley's for living and much preferred the Aprilias she sold (infact the Treasurer hates the fact that most people expect her to be a pillion or ride a 'pissy little' 250 or a 'small'cruiser....and before someone asks the obvious question - she rides a Ducati because it was the right price and YES her boss WASN'T happy....

My sister rides a VTR1000 and has no dramas with fuel economy (except when she's 'playing' on the Black Spur), than again its suits her because it needs re-fueling around the same time that she needs coffee.

We went for a 500km ride on Sunday (Wagga-Beechworth-Tallangatta-Granya Gap-Jingellic-Holbrook-Wagga) and the Treasurer has decided, after being held up by me going down Granya Gap, that the M750 is going to stay with us for a while longer yet.

Now everyone knows my dislike for Hondas, and I'm sorry Mr Honda ya may have put some Aussies up there in the racing scene, but, basiclly ya bikes suck, ya electronic's are totally and utterly unable to weather a small shunt, and the prices of new electronic's well lets just say its nearly cheaper to leave the bike and go buy a new one. example after example after example I have witnessed, yes crashed, but far from rightofffs, but time and time again not long later fried efi computer, fried H.I.S. system fried charging system. It does not end there, cause a new H.I.S. System reguires all new keys and locks, (Petrol tank helmet lock etc.) new battery to go along with the new charging system alternator, reg. Efi computer now this is the killer, and a couple of sencors that it always manages to knock out, in its fry up. And not once have I ever heard of the insurance company coming to the party and putting it under accident damage. So if she goes get one, and god forbid she has a off of someone knocks her down take the writeoff option. I've seen bikes with just minor body damage, yet within a month all of the above, and again stressing not just once. yet I'm happy to ride repaired writeoff suzuki's and kawasaki's, even yamaha's. ut I do like the sv's in fact I love the early sv650's now they where fun.
Foot loose and fancy free.
Looking for adventure and what ever comes our way.

It'll be quite a while before she replaces the M750.

As I said before

and you can add paying of the Camry as well, so by then some other manufacturer will have something else that she desires.....having said that she still lusts after the Aprilia Tuono and Triumph Speed Tripple.
