Title: TIPS FOR PHILLIP ISLAND
Post by: aussiebandit on March 03, 2006, 01:40:32 AM
Who do think will win?

Personally, I think it'll be a battle between Troy C and Troy B.  Troy B should do better at the island, given that the speed coming on to main straight is higher therefore the Suzuki won't have such an advantage over the Ducati with acceleration.

My predication, providing it doesn't rain, is that it'll be Troy C from Troy B by less than half a second.

If it rains, no-one will race because Troy C will blockade the pit exit again.

In the Supersport it'll be a case of pick an Aussie any Aussie.

I'll be the winner, cause I've got the efen flu, (hello its like 33c down here and with the flu, it aint much fun) so i'm staying put in front of the box. So I'll actually see the whole thing and I can get maggot faced blind on rum and beams :beers: , and don't have to worry about getting home.
How this for fence sitting I'm backing TROY to win.

I don't have the flu, infact I'm feeling really good, and like you I'll be sitting in front of the telly watching it all as well, uninterupted, zero adverts, nil by rain, no need for sun screen.  Oh, lets not forget qualifing on Saturday....

Jeez I'm lucky the treasurer loves motor racing as well......

The supersport grid is almost as good, 2 Aussies in the top 4

A frenchman

Just got back from the Island.  I was flagging on the exit of turn 12.....

To see Bayliss struggle and stay on the bike with shot tyres was amazing - such fantastic bike control.

And what about the weather - just spectacular - very strange for PI......

All in all a fantastic trip! :beers:

Not just strange for PI, but for southern Victoria in general to have 1 complete day of nice weather, let alone 2 or 3 or......

Yes indeed I have spoken with the man himself (there are certain advantages in living next door to a church).....and just in case I'll be offering the kids as sacrafices again this year

......Unfortunately I won't get a chance to do a run up Gods Road before the Rally......other 'more important things'....and my big 'sis wants me to check out a bike trailer down in Morvan, so I suppose I'd better do the right thing by the old girl....

Now, all things being equal, fat people use more soap and I'll be heading up to Humula on Friday arvo after work.....the Treasurer isn't coming this year.   The youngest boy is going to Ballarat for a school trip next week, and she wants to spend that weekend with him....must be a mother thing...

So I'll see you across the pool table, through drunken eyes friday arvo then. Mind you I dont think I'll be sitting down for a few hours. Note ZRX seats suck.

Ever tried a sheep skin cover......

Don't spend $200+ on a custom made job.....go to BigW (or similar) and look for the sheep skin rugs they sell for use in prams, cots and other associated baby stuff.

Then all you need is some elastic tape stuff, and needle and thread and a pair of scissors.  Cut the sheep skin to size, saw on the elastic tape stuff so it can snuggly wrap round your seat, and there you go a sheep skin seat cover for less then $100...

Oh and they go really well under the sleeping bag when camping.....

Yes mate I never leave home without one, unless its less than a couple of hours ride, trust me when I say ZRX seats SUCK, after all the miles we clocked up over the xmas break, it really does suck, I've even softened up the rear end to try and make it more bearable. So now it handles like a slug and still the seat with the sheepie sucks. And I hear peoples bitching about the bandit seat. Me I sit back here and laugh, and think to myself, they aint ever ridden a ZRX on a long trip.

To be honest, I don't have a problem with the seat on the B12.......but that's only 'cause the M750 seat is only just softer than a plank of wood.

Mate I had, back in the late 70's early 80's a bonnie hard tail chopper, and that seat, steal base, 25mm of foam and leather over the top, that seat was far more bearable than the REX

Why the flying F*%k do you buy it for then.....or does the rest of the bike make up for the lack of comfort.....

The rest of the bike is very good, the motor is very willing, the 6 spot brakes are over the top, I have noted that kawasaki has even put smaller rotors on the newer models to tame the suckers down a bit. the handling is not to bad for a lump of its size, its hard work to get it quick and smooth on a road like the reefton spur but on roads like gods rd and the black spur it holds its own very well. I bought as a wreck and had never ridden one before, and even if I had test ridden one, most shops don't let you take it out for a quick interstate run, or am I going to the wrong shops. Then there is the price I paid, 2 g's and another 2 g's on the road. But I still reckon the B6 is more fun, even if it don't mono as easy as the REX. But one HUGE + for the REX is the noise, it really does sound like nothing else. Hope your EPA boys airnt around next weekend.

You should be right......the RTA are the ones round here that'll take your bike of the road for noise.....but they're too busy annoying the f^&k out of Truckies, plus there is a burnout comp in Wagga that weekend, so the EPA, RTA and Cops will be concentrating on the local hoons and 'tourists' in town....

Yep well that just solved the question of which way to get there. The back door is now locked in. Yehaa, and so much more fun. And the back door is looking good for the trip home too.  It may be 600 k's longer and my butt will be killing me, but the roads are so much worth it.

Unfortunately for me, there is no back door, and the Show Grounds aren't far from my place, add the fact that my street is often the scene of speeding teenagers and cops....actually it's sometimes fun to sit out in the front garden and watch the dicks go screaming past, only to nearly loose it on the corner less than 20 meters down the road..
