WAGGA TOY RUN
« on: December 03, 2006, 03:21:32 AM »
Well, it's that time of the year again where bikies and bikers of all shapes and sizes riding bikes of all shapes and sizes get together and ride around town collecting and donating toys for the under privialaged kids.

There were about 200 bikes, not bad for Wagga - however -this year, for the first time in recent memory, it rained - not much but enough to make the roads nice and slippery.

Fortunately, only one bike went down, and it was a slow speed fall on grass.

The thing that gets me with these type of events is it attracts ALL motorcyclists - even the pharkwits that have no idea whatsoever about riding in a small pack let alone a large one.

The organisers did the best they could.  Gave out written instructions and directions and gave a brief prior to the start, but that didn't stop the 'boy racers' and the 'young bucks' on the dirt bikes being complete dicks.  The other thing that annoys me is the arrive at a pre-designated stop in formation but everyone seems to want to leave at precisely the same time.

Overall, not a bad day, 'The Eldest' did well.  Had his L's for just over a week and was a bit nervous, but did really well.  He didn't run into anyone and no one ran in to him.

The Treasurer was not happy with some of the 'boy racers', a couple of them got close enough to nudge her mirrors - not happy Jan - they're just lucky she couldn't be bothered, otherwise it may have been nasty.

Sorry I don't have any pics, as my digital camera is still on the blink.

Oh, while I remember.  I've previously given praise to Frontline - one of the local bike shops.  I'm now retracting the recommendation.  I asked them to check the KLR over properly before I bought it.  They gave it a clean bill of health saying "Good buy, put a deposit on it now before he sells it to someone else".

Well since putting the motard rims on we've discovered that the steering head bearings are not healthy, the front left axle nut has obviously seen the tarmac up close and personnel.  During the Toy Run it became real obvious that the thermostat is either the wrong one, set wrong or just plain dead.  The poor KLR started to overheat and there was no sign of the fan comming on.  Then after the toy run we noticed that one of the two throttle cables was snapped - closer inspection showed that both are not healthy.  Not at all happy, and 'The Eldest' is really pissed because I've told him he's not to ride it until we can get the Thermostat and throttle cables fixed.

oh the joys of motorcycling.
Well I do feel for the long tall piece of,,,, no I mean your eldest  Gotta remember to be nice to him his bigger than me, but I do remember, that chainsaws can bring a young fella back down to size
Well mate your weekend has to rate a whole lot betta than ours  With the young fella's appearence due in less than 8 weeks, I've been working the run 5 days a week, and working around the house every spare minute to get things ship shape. So understandably I've been a bit testy, and have been just about begging for just 1 day off to recharge the batteries, and attitude. Well this weekend was to be it  No No No, Doona wakes up saturday morning not feeling to good, 1 hr later, it was take me to the hospital, 1 hr after that she was having contractions, 2 hrs after that she was being rushed to the Royal Womens in town. Its all ended well, they shoved all sorts of crap into her and have stopped the birth, and feed the little fella some shyte, to get his lungs up and ready just in case, it all starts up again, but things are stable for now. And the hope is Donna will return home mid week. Wow has the weekend gone already, shyte, stress sure does make it fly. Bugger seems I've missed it.
Foot loose and fancy free.
Looking for adventure and what ever comes our way.
