Watch Out Aussies, Here We Come!!!!

Cool site, ray -- thanks - I'm going to check it out in more detail later.  is it just me or is having a big bike ride for blood donations just a bit too gruesome or suggestive!?!  I just saw a bike laid down on a big sweeping corner so the blood thing was right there..sorry.

Aussiebandit - what's that old joke about telling your friend you've been married for 25 years and he asks if you will get time off your sentence for good behaviour?

Actually, I was looking for a bit of sympathy.  18yrs, I would've been out on parole 8yrs ago if I'd committed murder.....

As for looking back at where you came from as being the best thing since sliced bread, well I was only a wee little lad of 5 when we moved to the land of Oz, but by all accounts we're a hell of a lot better of than we would've been.  Shyte, I'm always telling the relatives in Pommy Land to move here, the weather is warm and the beer is cold, and Beef looks, smells and tastes like Beef, and we can eat it......

Sympathy, ha, never.

As for the rest, in regard to the home country, I'm with you.
One of my relo's went back, bitching all the way, how shyte it was here, he got back and lasted 3 weeks. Got a phone call, "come pick me up, I'm at the airport", I laughed.

B6 - I'm with you - when they do go back to their 'beloved' home, they just pi$$ and moan about that too!  How much it has changed and it'll never be the same or as good.  Maybe it's just the personality type that is never happy about nothin'.  Give 'em $1 million and they would whine that it's not $2!! :monkeymoon:

The train is the best idea, even if ya catch it on the west side of the great divide. Sit back relax with a few cold ones, and for safety sake, give the nullaboring a miss. I did many years ago, never again , I don't care how good the road is suposed to be. On my trip back I took the train option.

I'm pretty sure you can temp rego, on your plates. But if memory serves me correctly there is a time limit and you have to pay a bond, to make it not worth your while selling the bike here.

I wouldn't have thought that you'd need Aussie rego, providing you weren't staying too long, like permanently.

I'd check with one of those bike tour places like

http://www.motorcycletours.to/index.htm

oh and Jim our new found Canadian friend may find that web site useful....

That makes me wonder, cause quite a few times over the years I have spotted, adventure travellers on UK rego'd bikes.

I would've thought it's no different to us going over to the land of the long white cloud with our bikes, or going to the IOM in June with you own bike - now there's a road or 2 I'd like to ride.....

Oh and just for the record, no I'm not going, it is simply one of the things I dream about doing when I'm rich and famous....
