Post by: B6mick on March 31, 2008, 01:51:23 AM
At Last, releif is in sight, finally got to see the surgeon, bugger me (no Don't, I'm really not like that) they are going to put me under the knife, yes I'm actually looking forward to it.
Yes thats right, I'll be so efen glad to done with these bloody hernias. And with a little bit of luck next week.

Remember when ya was a kid and ya used to wish weeks would fly by, for shyte like school holidays, christamas, birthdays etc. Well I'm wishing the week away, just like a little kid.

Thanks Mick will do.

Should be pretty straight forward, famous last words.

Ok heres a quick run down, no pics.

Option 1, Cut the skin a the sites of the hernia, push hernias back in stitch abdominal wall back together. Draw back, 20% chance of the stitches failing and getting the hernias back.
6 to 10 weeks off work to recover.
My reaction to the surgeon, F off.

Option 2 Cut skin at hernia site push hernia back in sew a mesh on to the wall.
Brawback 1 to 2% chance of hernia coming back 20% chance of bleeding, and infection, and damage to the old family jewels, and action down stairs coming to a hault, 4 to 6 weeks off.
My reaction to the surgeon, F off I have no 1 thanks.

Then good option 3, phew the bugger had me worried, No sex frig, take me flaming bikes too, why don't ya.

Option 3, keyhole job with mesh sewn in from the inside, less than 1% chance of hernias coming back, best odds so far. No chance of infection, or bleeding, no chance of stuffing me sex life, 2 to 3 weeks off. Now ya talking Doc....... Book me in ASAP for nothing but the best thank you. And he did...... Roll on wednesday............. Cut me ya F*#*#r cut me.

I have to say none of that sounds particularly pleasing, although option 3 certainly sounds the best.  Makes my vasectomy sound tame.

Thanks Guys. Still a bit sore around the old belly button where they went in ( keyhole 4 sites), but all in all starting to feel pretty damned good. And have had no need for pain releif since lunch time the morning after the op...

Hi mick glad it all went right, be back on the bike before you know it Graham

I went into the shed a couple of times during the day yesrerday, spent a little time at the bench, polishing the REX fork brace, and to be honest I reckon when the minister of war heads out tomorrow for footy, I just might fire up the REX and take a short and slow ride up the mountain just because I can, the weather is going to be perfect they tell me. One attitude ajustment coming up.

Missed out on my attitude adjustment, it pissed down rain and hail for most of the day.
Carn't sat I'm to upset about the rain either, we really do need it. And I'm really really sore, but i'm getting betta day by day. I even was able to drive the van today without my gutz hurting steering the sucker...... But I must say with the little fella going to play group for nearly a whole day on wednesdays, if the weather was to come good, one would have to think about heading up the river for a relaxing ride and fish for a trout or 2. Fark I could learn to hate this getting betta stuff

Don't push you luck too much.  I made that mistake after having 'the snip', ended up having another couple of days off work and in pain.

Much betta today, still got sore but not as quick, had to chase up a caliper for the B6 from the wreckers. Get this, somehow the caliper slide mount bracket got bent, hmmmmm.
No stack, no marks, but all the same a bent and twisted bracket.

I only found it, because I felt pity on the bandit, and put it up on the workbench, for a week or so of TLC. Its been kinda neglected, while project REX was on the bench. I was cleaning the front wheel up, and decided, to pull the front wheel out, to do it proper, and I figured I should drop the calipers off, for a good clean up on the bench. Thats when I seen the very uneven wear on the pads.

I'll post pics latter, I've never seen anything like it.
