Group Ride Leader volunteers?
« on: May 04, 2005, 02:36:39 PM »
I'll be leading a 'slowish' group daily, probably 150-250 miles a day.
Lloyd, (Bantana) is going to lead a faster group, with some serious miles, probably Friday.
I'm going to suggest that he take only people he's ridden with before, since this will be a ride that ranges further away from the base camp, and will be seeking out the twistiest roads.

There's a lot variations of 'group' rides, and ANYBODY that has some sort of a travel plan, and some familiarity with the route, can lead a ride.

We try to keep the groups under 10, each,  It's a lot easier to control.

The goal is to let you get in as much riding of the type you want to do.

It actually would be cool to head out in this area, without much of a planned route.  Just point the bike down any paved road you see......

Will, the owner of the Bike Camp, can help you come out with some great routes.

There's also some neat atttractions in the area....state parks....historical sites....tourist traps, etc.

If you would like to lead a group, or have an idea for a ride route, or 'flavor'...speak up!

  ('Cigar' run is an example...)

If you come in during the day, and most of us are out riding, don't sit on your butt!   There are a lot of little short loops you can do, and enjoy.

The easiest is to take 58 East to Hwy 8, take it North to Tuggles Gap....stop at Tuggles Gap for a drink or something, and then take the BRP back to Willville.  I think this is about 40 miles, and has some lovely sweepers, and some nice tight stuff before you hit Tuggles Gap.
Alternately, you can take  Route 8 north from 58, take a right on HWY 40 toward Ferum, and it's another tight road.  I took County 860 (Shooting Creek Rd?) north from 40 to the BRP.  It's very tight, but don't get too much speed up......

County 614 from Meadows of Dan turns into a tight road that drops down from the ridge.  New pavement, but lots of gravel.
Close to the campground for a 'twisty' fix......
