Last official invite, and some general info.
« on: May 10, 2005, 07:45:52 AM »
Anybody is welcome to show up, on any type of bike.

   Don't expect anything too organized!

This is mostly an excuse to hang out with other Bandit riders, party a little, and do some riding.

If you show up after 9 am or so, most of us will be gone.    I'll try to leave a list of various group lunch stop locations, if you want to try to catch up with a group.

Probably the list will be somewhere near my tent.  I have a small bulletin board I can bring, if I can figure out where to put it.
worse comes to worse, will put a list on the bulleting board on the porch near the coffee pot at the main building at Willville.

Raffle around 7 PM saturday night, will be held at the large covered deck/gazebo thing in the campground.
Tickets are $1 each, and I'll start selling them a couple hours before the raffle, or whenever we get back from riding that day.

Will trys to keep the place real neat and clean.    There are trash cans scattered around the place, and a few butt cans.  Smokers....use something other than the ground to dispose of butts!  (Remind me!)

There is a 'no glass' container policy.  Try to bring your adult beverages in cans.  (You can buy beer in town, less than a mile away.)

If you want more seclusion, or plan on staying up late, there is a small camping area in the rear of the campground, you'll see a little bridge leading to it.

Quiet hours are 11PM, to 7 AM.

     Don't feed the 'dog'!

There's probably no place close for emergency repairs, or tires!
Check your bike out closely before you show up!

Parking for cars/trucks/trailers may be tight, and inconvenient.
If you have to leave early, make sure you're not blocked in.

This is YOUR vacation!   Participate in as much, or as little of whatever of the rides or acitivites as you wish.
If you have some ideas for a specific ride to a certain destination, somebody is probably willing to ride with you.
   (Shopping, history, tourist stuff....etc.)
The 'locals' are pretty friendly, and while it's a 'bike' destination, it's not as 'bike dense' as the Dragon/Robbinsville area.  Be considerate, keep the speeds and noise down around populated areas, and have fun.

Law enforcement on the Blue Ridge Parkway can get intense, and not very tolerant.   There is also local, and tourist traffic.   Watch the side roads, and keep an eye out for wildlife.   The BRP is pretty, has some nice curves, but isn't the place to be wringing out your bike.  You can still enjoy it....

We may take a collection up for dogs, chips, and drinks for dinner Saturday.    Feel free to join in, or eat out.
The campground has a microwave, and grill for use, and also rents some coolers.

In an emergency, call Willville and ask Will to pass a message on.
If you break down within a reasonable range of Willville, we'll try to help you out.
My cell phone doesn't work at the campground, but does off/on in the area.   It isn't a great means to get in touch with me while I'm there, but here's the number.
    803  599 8780

Be safe, and have fun!   I'll be heading up there tomorrow morning....

Not sure, Rob, there's a lot of nice rides in the area.
We've got a 'cigar' run planned for Saturday, hit the JR store in Statesville, then up to the BRP/////////
