Title: Rally info
Post by: PeteSC on January 17, 2006, 02:03:53 PM
I'm checking into dates for MAY at Blue Ridge Motorcycle Camp in Cruso, NC.
This will let us ride  the dragon, and try a different setting!
It's a nice place, I haven't been there since it was fixed up.
I'll post some potential dates, and info. as it develops

This year, I'm in... I just spoke with Manny and co last night about what a great time they had a couple of years ago.

For those interested I'm planning on hitting TWO Thursday night before.

I'm having no luck gettting in touch with BRMC via email.
They may be taking an off season vacation.    I'll try calling.
I mostly want to avoid a weekend when there is another LARGE group, if possible, although....the place is big enough it's probably not a problem.
We can also probably get a little discount, which we can spend on  :beers:
It's a nice place, a little different from the other two Motorcycle resorts we've been to, but a nice setting, and some lovely roads.

It will all come together Pete. BRMC is a nice place.
I got the 748 out yesterday and did a few miles.
I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride that bike.

Roamr says TWO is a really nice place.  Something about a hot tub.  I'd be up for going there instead of BRMC.  Besides, maybe we can get someone to respond to our requests to book a group event.  Also, I really need to get the dates nailed down.

TWO would be OK with me or Blue Ridge!  I have a favorite camp ground near to each!!  (For the motorhome) I think Blue Ridge is still digging out of snow right now and TWO may be also.  I know that last year, even though we were a week later with the meet compared to earlier years, the National Park campgrounds had not opened!!  I have a bunch of date conflicts popping up but hope to be there.

make it southern ohio and i will make it this year!! LOL other wise this will be the first boss rally i miss since they started back at the san ran motel. i wish i could make it but i am building a house this year and funds, and time are both to little for a road trip this year. maybe if there is a fall rally like there is sometimes i will try to make that, but looks bad for riding this summer for me.

do look it up on the web. i think it is the best of the east coast motocampgrounds. without a doubt some of the best roads on the east coast right out of the driveway. whetehr it's a 60 mile loop or a 360 mile loop, you can string together a great day out of suches, georgia. they appear to be booked all of april and only the first two weekends of may are open for large groups. camping is always available.

I just called BRMC and they said the weekend of may 13-14 still has some cabins open and so far seems to be lightly booked for them now.
T.w.o. has not answered their phone yet, but on their site apppears that the same weekend with them 13-14 is the best to book as well.
The 3rd weekend in may is booked pretty good at both sites, so we should pretty much commit to the 13-14 of may. Lets just wait for Pete to chime in and decide which campground he prefers and hopefully everyone's schedule will allow this to roll without a hitch.

Alas, I have a serious buyer coming to look over my ten year old Bandit750 Project. I've run off a couple already, but I may bend and actually sell it this time. If so, it will have to be the DR650 for rally duties

My pal Dave is not going to make it,so I'll have a extra bunk. I have the cabin reserved for Fri,Sat & Sun.
I see the 1st practice @ Nelson is just befor that, but I'll have to miss it. It's 1 or the other. $ goes only so far. I didn't even get my 06 Fasttrax card yet. No sence untill I can get tires. Think I'll just do the Bandit track day,and pitch in for tires on my buddys SV and race that with him instead of the Bandit. But then again its the $ thing.
I'll be heading down from Erie Fri morning if any Buffalo or Canadian Banditos want to tag along.  Later,Dan

Dear Bandit Brothers and Sisters,

You are mortal.  How many days do you think you have left to ride your Spiritual Bandit?  Try to recall the many times your Bandit has forgiven you for those little human riding errors.

You get to be married all year long....you get to work all year long....you have children all year long.

It is NOT selfish for you to listen to your Ride calling for a few moments of time with you on ONE weekend a year.  It will make your Soul happy for all of those you love all year long.

I sincerely look forward to seeing ALL of  you at BOSS '06. WHOOSH!

RIDE FAST,
NO FEAR,
STAY ALIVE,

Title: Cabins
Post by: DanoRobinson on April 18, 2006, 05:31:04 PM
Hey Scooter Trash:
A few more RRs reserved Cabins T-1 and 8 (I think).  RR#2 Bear and Cub in #8.  RR#5 Dano and Burtron in T-1.  Also a couple more from Fripp Island, Richard & Sandra have reserved another cabin, not sure the number.  Three more "non-Bandit"  rookies.  I told them I was welcomed on my BMW the first BOSS I attended at TWO, and on my YoMaMa FJR1300 last year at Meadows of Dan.  Anyway Pete, more people to buy raffle tickets.
Bookem

Sure why not !! Susie rides a Sportster !! I think your Busa is just a wee bit closer to a Bandit than her Sporty.

 Yo, Daytona, I'm heading up Thursday from Edgewater, just south of Daytona, and would enjoy a riding buddy.  May be picking up my brother and his 3 buds at Fripp Island, SC.  I've ridden from here up to that area, NC, TN, Dragon, BRP many times.  As far as your tent, in my opinion that would be just fine - may be chilly at night a little.  Anyway, if you want to ride up together, email me at RobRobinsonFL@msn.com and we'll set it up, OK?

 :beers:

Post by: DRUIDRIDER on April 20, 2006, 10:13:54 PM
:thanks:  Hey Scooter, where are you getting your booking information?
I hope not from the BRMP management.  ??? Because there may be some errors.  I also thought it was kind of funny when he did not take my credit card number for a reservation.  Anyhoo, I am KYrider and I am not camping.  I am in Cabin 2 with my bro.  By the way, we are trying to bring as much loot as we can to the raffle.  Other than that.....WHOOSH!

That sounds great Rob! I take it you leave real early so it can be done in one day? My wife thinks I'm nuts! 600 miles not that bad, 12 trips to Mt Dora. Fill me in on your schedule. Or at least when you intend to get on the road, who needs a schedule!   :thanks: :bigok:

If I raised her bike you guys would really have trouble keeping up to her, so to keep the embarrasment down we have left the bike at the stock height. She will have to slow a little in the 180 turns so you guys can catch up to her there.

Post by: DanoRobinson on April 28, 2006, 01:17:04 PM
Hey Gary:
The Bandit crowd is very hospitable.  Non-Bandito's are welcome.  The only thing this crowd takes seriously is their love of riding.  The Bandit is one of the best all around motorcycles made.  If you don't own one, they might remind you what you're missing, eg., "I see you are riding YoMaMa."  But, they won't send you into exile on the next mountain over.  Now, there will be at least 2 FJR1300As at BOSS 2006.  You will see a few other makes there also.

Hey I'm just wondering should i get a GPS nav. sys for my bike? Its sounding like the most of you B.O.S.S. folk may get me lost in those hills! I won't be able to keep up with even the smoker group and wined up taking the wrong or low road. Is there a group that have chicken strips galore i can hang with? If this is the normal ride         http://www.gormanonline.com/videos/street/DealsGapOverlookToXroads.wmv         maybe i can just say i was stuck behind a car (old) with smoke, driver with dyed blue or no hair!!!     :duh:    :beers:

Boarders by Bandit's meet!!  Oh and one Busa!!!      :beers:

No need for a GPS unless you have plenty of cash and love maping.
You could stay on the parkway all day long if you like to run a scenic pace. There is no shame in riding your own pace and keeping it safe. The roads in and around that region can hurt you, but only if you ride above your comfort zone.  A nice loop from BRMC is 276 north to 215 south to the BRP west to 23 east to 209 north to Hot Springs to 25 southeast to Marshall to Meadows Town Road (county road)  south 1001 to Leicester where a few miles down the road to Newfound Road (County Road 1004) to Canton 19/county road 110 back to 276 south to BRMC. 165 miles and a nice, reasonable day. This route takes you on some of the best roads in the area.
