Conti Road Attack tires for the B12?
« on: October 09, 2005, 02:42:23 PM »
Is anybody running the Continental Road Attack tires? I'm considering getting a set for my B12, cause the battlax bt010 I have on the rear now only lasted about 2000 miles, sure it sticks like a fried egg but it didn't last long enough for me.
What do you guys think?

27 views 0 replies, I guess I'll be the guinea pig and try a set. I'll let you know how they work out later, I've read good reviews of these tires and just wanted to get some bandit specific feedback. :thanks:

Thanks Paul, I ordered them last night I can't wait to try them.  One of the guys I rode home with from BOSS 05 had them and he liked them but he didn't have many miles on them yet. They seemed to stick well even thogh the BRP was wet with rain.

So far I've only gotten about 25 miles on them riding to and from work and around town. They feel really good and transition well into and out of the corners, I haven't had a chance to go fast on them yet because I like to scuff new tires in for about 100 miles before I start to push em but they have really good feedback from the road, and the bike feels strable yet it is still easy to flick into the corners. I'll post more after I get some miles on them

8K so far on my Road Attacks ('02 Bandit 1200), happy with dry and wet handling, and they still have plenty of tread left.

The rear is beginning to "square off" slightly, reflecting my highway commute - if it's affecting the handling, I can't tell.

Only complaint is that the front has developed the same cupping as the original Michelin Macadams, causing the same wobble if you release the bars.  I'm inclined to take the blame for this as I was lax in checking the tire pressure - it probably ran down at 30 psi for a long time.  And it always feels better as soon as I pump it up.

So, I would buy them again, but would maintain them better next time!

Ahhhhh, Rob, we guys in the replacement tire business LOVE riders that never check their tire pressures regularly.  :stickpoke:
I bet I've seen at least a dozen sport/sport tour front tires trashed this season due to low pressure cupping....and all for the want of a $3 pressure gauge and a little time spent once a week or so.

Ive used the conti's for about the last 9k miles or so and no problems, seem to wear well but my problem is I seem to pick up a nail half way through the tire life. This has got me thinking Im going cheap, Im ordering the Shinko 009 this time. Anyone else seem to do this before they wear? Its not like I ride in construction zones or anything...

I use the Conti Road Attacks exclusively on both the B12 and my CBR929.  I've gone through six pairs of them and they stick well in all conditions.  I ran the B12 at the Dragon a couple years ago and traction was solid and stable at extreme lean and no side tread unused.  :-)
I get 6-7k out of a set, depending on how I ride.  Great handling and much better milage than race compounds.  Best tire I have found.

I know how the nail thing feels, picked one up after 2,000 miles on the rear shinko 007, pluged and patched it, it's holding up.
Almost to cool to ride at present 30 to 40 F in the morning and 50 to 70 in the afternoon in Denton, TX. I have a 009 to go on the front shortly. The shinko is holding up well really only has 5,000 miles on it though and I'm old and slow.

Its been my tire of choice lately, I'm ready for my 4th set. I'm setting the Bandit up for the track now,and will put on race tires. But when I put it back to gether for the street, it will get a new set of Road Attacks.   Dan
