I am thinking of polishing the rims on the Bandit but would like to see pics of a black bike with the rims polished before I do it to see how it will look. If anyone has pics I would like to have a look. TIA Dan. :beers:

Thanks, that helps alot. I'm not sure what I'll do but now I know what it would look like. Thanks again.

Hey man I polished the rims on my bike, not just the outer part though. If you go to this link you can see a couple pics of it, I have better pics, but can't figure out how to resize them so that they're not ginormous. if you want I can email them to you. I'd polish yours if I was you, it changes the look of your bike.

Nice Bike! Great burnout! Those rims look great. That must of been a hell of alot of work. Results are awesome though. I'm still undecided. I'm thinking of taping off the edges and just do the flat spot between the tire and where it breaks toward the center of the wheel as just a little accent. I'm also considering having them powder-coated. I work for a powder-coater so I may put this project off until winter and then do the work. We have a silver metallic that would match the decals on the bike really well. A clearcoat on top will really make the paint "Deep". Maybe I'll see one this summer with polished wheels to help me as well. Thanks for the info, Dan :beers:
(Never at the same time of course)

I's like to do that with my B4 but I havent looked into where I should send them.

Powder coating is great stuff. Just make sure it is applied right. Make sure you blast all of the old paint off. Make sure the shop you use has a specialized washer to prep the wheels. I've seen powder lift off in big flakes because it wasn't prepped right. Also, if they put the clear coat over the paint the finish is alot nicer. Powder is a pretty popular process. If you check with some auto shops or someone that manufactures steel pieces, they should be able to steer you to a good shop. :beers:

Did you grind the roughcast part to get the centers to look like that?
-
yeah, the casted part of the rim was a pretty intense job. Had to take a grinder to it to get the pits out of it first (didn't even use paint stripper, as the grinder took this off anyways), then once I'd gotten past the pits, which was quite a bit of grinding, I sanded it down with about 100 grit sand paper, then worked my way up to about 300 grit, and then buffed em with an aluminum polish. Took quite a few hours, but it was worth it in the end I think
