Bandit 1200 Mirrors :-(
« on: February 20, 2006, 05:29:52 PM »
Firstly, sorry if this has been asked before but I have spent ages looking and can not find anything regarding mirror's on the Bandit 1200  :duh:

Can anyone "PLEASE" tell me if there are mirrors available that are direct replacement's for Bandit Mirrors that are Longer  :?:

I have just had about enough of having to keep moving my arms everytime I look in the mirrors, its driving me nut's  :banghead:

Any help at all that would make life (and riding) a little better would be great  :thanks:

If your mirrors mount on the handlebars, check out the mirror extenders that Holeshot has. They allow me to see something other than me in the mirrors.

Thanks for the link  :thanks:

Amazing the way prices get hicked for the UK isn't it !
SW-MOTECH sell them for 39.50 Euro's
but if you want to get them from a UK seller then they are £69.99 plus delivery  :duh:

You can only order from SW-Motech if your an importer or dealer.
Another classic rip-off and price hike for the UK buyer  :soapbox:

I have a Bandit 1200s so the mirrors are on the fairing, looks like I shall have to see if I can make something to extend them out past my elbows.

Thanks for the help  :beers:

I just found this for fairing-mirror extenders.  Looks like a reasonable way to DIY.

Fantastic stuff Dave  :thanks:

Was going to make them out of Fiberglass as we use a load at work,
but it might be a better idea to make a mold and cast them out of a Plastic
Resin, Black as well

I will have a play and see how they come out, if all works out ok I "Might" be able to make some for sale, at cost
(Just to Pi** off the retailers of course)

Thanks for the link, its set off all sorts of ideas  :beers:

have you considered bar end mirrors
also there is some neat bar end mirrors off pedal bikes
that do the same job and fold in on themselves when not in use
long live the bandit

Bobcat had some of those bicycle units on his old B6... they lost lenses at speeds faster than most bicycles ever travel.

I reversed the sides of the mirrors on my 04 (yeah, right to left, left to right). Yes they are now upside down. Nobody notices. I have a 2 lane field of vision behind me instead of my shoulders. Try it, it will take you 10 minutes.

Wow... the mirror reversal idea is a brilliant concept that I need to try.

I'm with everyone else... the stock mirrors on a 2nd Gen "S" bike are freaking ridiculous unless you you are a narcissist who likes to look at your biceps and elbows.  I did put 2 stick-on wide angle mirrors on mine to 'fix' the problem temporarily.

There are Bandit mirror extenders for almost $100... but What The F**K?... I would probably ask for flowers and dinner before being asked to BEND OVER for 2 little pieces of plastic.

Tried the mirror reversal on my 06. It's been a peev that's been bugging me since I bought it. Find myself constantly adjusting them to no rel satisfaction. The mirror reversal works but leaves them sticking out like rabbit ears. Plus mine actually has moisture drain holes in the bottom (I think) that are now facing upwards. Nope, i'm gonna make up a couple of 40mm thick blocks of alumium that I'll hand shape to the base of the mirror at the fairing to blend in as unnoticable as possible.

I went to the local plastic place in Bethlehem PA. They have bins of F@#$ ups out front and scraps for cheap. Bought some 1 inch thick blue stock and made my own on the Shop Smith. $ 4.75  and two hours later......
