Title: Bandit Lower Fairing - My Solution (not dial-up friendly)
Post by: 97RedBird on November 03, 2005, 07:18:40 PM
I don't know if everyone likes the half-naked bandit, but that is why I bought mine.  I like seeing the engine.  Well I wanted more wind protection for my legs  (specifically my socks just below my pant legs), but I didn't want to cover the engine or pay out the nose for a lower fairing.

I thought about placing plastic sheets on the side of the bike creating a form using the expando liquid foam then perhaps making another form to create my own fiberglass custom fairing, but knew that is going to take more time and not look as good as what I can purchase.

So I used my second idea I stole from a friends 04 or 05 goldwing.  I used plexiglass I had laying around and created some brackets and attached it to two places on the frame.  So far they have worked out great.  They are very unnoticible until you are within 5 feet of the bike and the wind at legal speeds doesn't bend the plexiglass more than what I need to redirect the cold air away from my legs.

Any suggestions or comments?

I am sure you need the www. in the context between the [img] tags.

no luck.  I'll just convert it to a hyperlink, cause it works if you copy and paste the link into another browser.

Doesn't look like the www was an issue... but if the links are what was being used to try to post pics, they didn't work because they aren't the urls of the pictures themselves, but for a webpage.

A creative & well executed solution, but what I use to keep the wind off my socks is this novel new invention called "boots"

Thanks for the image fix.
 :thanks:

Telling me to wear boots on my commute is like  :stickpoke:
I know I should and I wear all the other gear, but I'm slow getting the boots.
