i hate the look of the mirrors on my bandit thinking about bar end mirrors but i`m questioning thair practicality . does anyone have first hand knowledge using these . yah or nah ? M

I know of several guys that have been happy with Cat Eye bicycle bar end mirrors. I have one sitting in the garage waiting for inspiration. :wink:
I had these Emgos from DK (http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=391541&store=Main&productId=p391541&catId=4&leafCatId=41008). The worked pretty well but just weren't the look I wanted. I saw much less elbow!

I've had 'em on a couple of bikes - years ago (RD350 & GS750). I don't remember who made them, but since it was so long ago, it's probably moot anyway. I really liked them, though. The only drawback I suffered was they tended to get bumped out of adjustment a lot more often than standard mirrors because they stick out more. They might be a bit of a PIA in places like CA where you can lane split, too.

I use a set of Napoleon BE mirrors on my SR. They are very nice, good looking, good view behind you, don't vibrate much, and they fold in for tight parking. Getting the throttle side set so that it doesn't need to be constantly adjusted takes some patience.
Don't forget that in just about any tip over you stand a fair chance of loosing the mirror on that side.

Bar ends look great and keep you legal but usually don't work so good.
Form over function (most of the time).

My Napoleon bar ends, look just like those DK Emgo's, gave me a much better view with less vibration than the stock mirrors. Plus I think they look better than the ugly chrome stockers :lol:

From what I understand, the Nap's give a better view and less vibes than the Emgos, too. They are about 3-4x the price, if memory serves.
I disagree with Manny - the Emgos gave a MUCH better field of view than the stockers. I'll prolly ride with the cat-eye this weekend. I'll post back then.

I have to agree with Rob. I have always been skeptical of bar end mirrors, I thought that they would be too far from the central point of view and vibrate too much. Mark @ Thumperstuff sold me on a set he had in the shop for my SR-500 and they are great. I have narrow bars with low rise on my SR and the results are very good! This is the first time, on that bike, that I have had a clear view of what is behind me without moving my body to the side. They vibrate less than most other mirrors. If they work on that rolling paint shaker they will most likely work on anything that the fairing doesn't limit.. They were a bit pricey, but the only way that I see that I would regret it is if I have the bike fall on a mirror. On a nakid bike or one with a 1/4 fairing they would be great. They look great too!

This was on the bike when I got it... not sure of the make.
Works good but sensitive to vibes at certain engine speeds.

well i ordered some 3"round bar end mirrors from l/p .they will be in .in about a week i will have to do some turning to my current bar ends to fit the mirrors but should be good to go after that.M

i`m just waiting for my new master cylinder clamps to come in so i dont have the old mounting stalks sticking up . they are supposed to be in on tuesday .m

Do you have the Hindsight, Hindsight LS or Blindsight mirrors? Did you clamp straight to the bar or did you get their bar-ends made for the mirrors? I'm considering getting a pair once I do my Kat front-end swap.

I have just the regular Hindsight. I have them clamped directly to my bars, but I am running motocross bars. If you are running stock bars with bar ends, the easiest way is to turn down a section of your bar end to 7/8" on a lathe. I did this for a few of my riding buddies. If no access to a lathe, it is probably best to order the adapter.

If you go with bar end mirrors, you loose the barend weights, right? I know the weights are meant to reduce vibration, a good thing, and altho I hate the stock mirrors, too, I REALLY have that buzzing feeling in my hands for hours after a long ride...
Any suggestions, experiences?

Steve....I have the CRGs on my '03 B12N and love them. As stated earlier EXCELLENT quality and look methinks. No vibration and have detentes and 'foldability'. Yeah, you've gotta trash the bar-end weights and it seems to make absolutely no difference re: vibration/numbness. My right hand STILL goes numb after 20mins! :crybaby: BTW: the convex mirrors take a little getting used to in regards to distance of vehicles behind and left/right of you. They tend to look a mile away but are much closer than appears. I always check over the shoulder before lane changes, etc. anyway. Once you're used to them..you're happy. :motorsmile:

I put a set of aftermarket bar end mirrors on my old XS11 Yamaha. They looked sexy but were a definite trade off in my oppinion.
Your rear view is better -less body in the way -but smaller as the mirror is further away from you eyes.
You must move your head/eyes a tad greater to see 'em which distracts your view of any trouble on the road ahead.
The aftermarket mirrors were fairly cheap and used the same compressed rubber plug mounting method as the bar ends of a bandit.
