Title: BIG BANDIT PHOTO ALBUM 600/650/750/1200/1250
Post by: ZenMan on July 01, 2007, 01:12:26 PM
Since the 250/400 Bandit folks have a photo album for their bikes, how about one here for our 600 and up owners?

We can use the same format I guess.

If you've got a pic of your 600/650/750/1200/1250 hosted somewhere, post ONE here!

A few rules:

* Please just post one pic. We don't want this to be anymore dial-up unfriendly than it has to be.

* Please be considerate and limit the size of your pics. A width of 800 pixels or less would be great.

* No comments or questions. If you have a question about someone's bike, please start a new thread.

* Feel free to list your mods along with your pic if you want.

I guess I'll start.

This is Ol' Number 99, named for the VIN #00099, the 99th '07 to roll off the assembly line. And I believe the first B1250 on BanditAlley.

No mods when this pic was taken, she only had only 49 miles on her, just came home from the dealer:

Since then she has about 2400 miles at this time, plus:

MRA Vario Touring windscreen (smoke grey)
Suzuki DL650 handguards
Parts Unlimited foam grips
Pro-Grip tank protector (carbon)
Vista-Cruise throttle-lock
Eiko Super-White 100 watt hi-beam
Rear "fenderectomy"

This is an old picture, the n model and the s model now sport holeshot exhausts (full systems).  Black one has the high pipe.  I will try to update it if it ever stops raining long ehough.

This a '07 w/ABS, #330.  I have since put a Laminar Lip on to cut down the airflow.  I had a '98 1200, but sold it in '02 and I am sorry I did not keep it...

New member not a new Bandit owner:

Here is my '07 B1250 had it about two weeks now and love it! Added the Givi V35 side bags, V460 topcase,  my Valentine1 radar detector, my old Garmin V GPS, sheepskin seat cover from my V-Strom and a Givi windscreen.

I am a former two time Bandit 1200 owner, '99 and a '00 model.

There sure are some beautiful bikes in here! Roy and Phil - how do you like your Givi gear? In retrospect would you have done/purchased anything differently?

Well........

I like the bags. I am glad for the flat black finish due to my feet hitting them on mount/dismount. One thing I would have done different is to contact Craig at Givi "FIRST" due to my dealer not knowing anything about the 2007 Bandit line up with the Givi gear. Once that was organized, after a few returns and such, I got what I wanted.

On the bike, I could only ask for one thing different - a better seat - of which Corbin and Sargent have promised to deliver on in the Spring of 08. My dealer was a bit ignorant on the bike being a new model. My opinion, "know your butt from a hole in the ground" before you try selling it.  :crackattack: They did not know the seat was adjustable let alone how to adjust it or how to check the coolant level. That left my confidence level in the shop at a low bar at the beginning.

I am getting 47MPG on 96 horsepower. I would have really liked it if Suzuki could have gone the extra mile and squeaked out a little bit more and given me 200MPG with 150 horsepower - that would have been nice

Overall - COMPLETELY satisified with everything.....including next year's seat revision.

Phil

Here's my 2006 2.5G 1200S. The only non-stock items are the Givi screen and (not shown in this pic) Givi engine guards. The guards did the job when I hit the ditch at the end of June and saved the engine cases like they were supposed to. Money well-spent, IMO. I have no intention of doing anything more to #17. She goes plenty fast for me and handles very well for a big bike.....although I will/will be binning both Dungflop tires on the next go-round and putting either Pilot Road 2CT's or BT021's on. I guess I owe it to myself to see what all the fuss is with the 2CT's. They are very popular with a lot of sport-tour guys I know. OTOH, I've always had great service/performance with all the 'Stones I've had over the years, so it'll be a tough call.

I've put more miles on it in 3 months than it had in over 2 years (picked it up with 2700 miles in October '07, now has damn near 5000).

I need an exhaust SOON or I'm gonna get bored not being able to hear it.

Now that I've figured out how to do this:  Here's the cool blue with all her Hard cases:

Here's the side:

I don't like the pics from the other side.  They show the scratches where it fell over.   :duh:
I've gotten about 8700 miles on it since The last week of April 2008.

With help of local BMW club member, I picked up a (new to me) 2003 Bandit 1200, with 14xx mi. on odometer from local salvage yard last week.

Other than minor scaring on body panels, broken turn signals, clutch lever tip, missing barend plugs.. the majority of the impact was absorbed by the front wheel/tire on the brake side..

The bike seems to have been sitting for a while, getting it started at the salvage yard took a bit of effort, I put 1/2 can of SeaFoam along with some fresh gas once home, it started pretty easily and idled smoothly. Up to speed of 65 mph the bike tracks straight, some engine stuble through the rpm range.. but likely that's just due to carbs being dirty.

I put about 26 miles on it over the weekend, have SeaFoam sat in tank over night and ran it some more yesterday, good improvement with throttle response in mid rpm range. Some back firing when I close the throttle at 7000 rpm to slow to 2000 rpm..
A few more days with the SeaFoam, I hope to get it running completely smooth and fill up the tank completely. For now, I'm still at the break-in mode with the bike since it has so little mileage.

Since he hasn't answered yet, I'll take the liberty...

That's a 2000 model.  The 1st generation B12 had that styling from 1997-2000 in the USA (1996 in some other markets).
For the B6, 1999 was the last year for the 1G.  That color, Metallic Light Olive Silver (code YC7) was only available in 2000. It is a pretty cool color, depending on light conditions, it can look silver, a light champagne color, or a silvery olive hue.
The 2001 Katana 750 was available in this color and the 2001 Intruder 1500 came in a two tone scheme that used this color along with a maroon

Here's my contribution. December 2006, B1200 S, Zero engine mods at present. Basically a very standard bike mechanically. I'm just working on restoration and "visual enhancements" at the moment. It's done about 34,000km.

Here is my Beast! 2000 B12 Streetfigher (Hooligan).

The modifications (where do I start):

Mechanical -

Holeshot stage 3 jet kit,
Holeshot 5 degree timing advance.
Dale's the man when it comes to Bandits!

Cosmetic - (to save myself some typing, unless I specify, all work done by me...lol)

The shortest dogbones I could find (1-1 1/2 inch short, I can't remember) to jack the rear end up as far as possible,
Trimmed/re-upholstered seat,
Bellypan (from E-bay seller),
Folding bar end mirrors,
Renthal handlebars,
Eliminated fender,
Almost useless blinkers in corners of brakelight  and front (triangle shaped) frame cover,
Custom textured grey paint,
Skull head (Target Halloween prop) light assembly with blinker horns consisting of (fabricated from scratch):
2 H3 halogen driving lights,
oil light,
neutral light,
and tachometer from my old '86 GSXR 750 (yup..no speedo..why..cuz who cares..lol) .
Upped the rear tire from 180/55/17 to 190/50/17 (FAT), new front tire as well (not pictured, haven't got around to taking new pics),
Fuel gauge under the frame.
Vance and Hines slip on exhaust with some sort of custom headers, don't know the make (came with original purchase, along with the scrapes).
RK racing chain.
I think that's it ...for now.

It's still a work in progress (about half done). It gets double-takes everywhere I go. They go for 3rds but I'm long gone by then!

Here's my first gen B12.

'08 GSXR 1000 rear shock
Clip ons
Bar-end mirror
Small LED indicators
Plasti-dipped a lot of the silver and chrome
Free flowing exhaust
Rejetted with 127.5 mains and 35 pilots + 1mm shim on the needle
2" airbox mod
Dropped the gauges an inch or two so they're sitting right on the headlight (looks better with the clip ons)
Did a home made tail tidy (hacksaw and sand paper!)

Some outside photos.

A photo of my Alberta based 'touring' pack mule,,, a maroon 98 Bandit 1200, seen here during a tour passing through Kalispell in Montana. This was a used bike purchase I made a few years ago in Calgary Alberta. After I bought the bike I set about stripping it and starting some serious restoration work to it, which has vastly improved the bikes appearance.
It has had some engine performance items added and other upgraded body accessories hidden around various parts of the bike.
Its not the cleanest in the photo, which you would expect after being on the road for a few days.

One Bandit is not enough, especially when you tour two different ends of the continent. Soooo, here is my Florida based 98 Bandit 1200. This bike, like my Calgary based 'pre-enjoyed' Bandit purchase, seen above in a previous post, has also had a major restoration of parts as well as some engine mods.
Its been to Deals Gap NC quite a few times and toured into GA and TENN as well.  In the photo our group has stopped at a lay-by on the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC.

Its indeed a small world, heres a photo of Alley member H2Ricks bike on the right and mine on the left during a tour through British Columbia in 2012. Both Bandits were parked at a layby near the Alexandra Bridge in the Fraser Canyon, British Columbia.
You know, its been said the red ones are the fastest, LOLOL

Hi all, just joined

I've moved back to Aus after 10 years in the UK, bought a Bandit 12 the second week I was back. I had one as a road bike in London, the new one isn't quite as perky, so I'll be looking for a jet kit, pipe and a few other bits.

Here's the UK bike, it made 124 bhp, had stage 3 dynojet with pods, full system with a rather shit can, braced swingarm, radial master cylinders, PAIR removed, jack up kit, 916 tail and a few other bits. Most work on this wasn't done by me, all I did was swap the twin dominators for a single headlight and then rode it every day. 3500 miles in about 4 months

This is the new bike, hopefully I'll junk the fairings this coming weekend, get a 7" headlight and work out some way to mount the clocks to the top yoke, my uncle has a little CNC machine so I'll be hassling him I think..

I recognise ElGringo's bike from another forum we're on..

A bit of Aussie Banditry gathered at Parkes for a get together a couple of weeks ago, I think there were 20 Bandits (with maybe a ring-in or two):
