Title: Bright Tail Light for B12
Post by: Dave 02 1200 on July 06, 2008, 02:50:51 PM
I am interested in replacing my standard tail light/brake light bulbs with something brighter.

There are leds on the market, a replacement for 1157 bulbs that is a 2397, led bulbs that strobe, led bulbs that spin, etc.

Anyone have a better solution to simply putting in another stock one?

Thanks,

Dave

I picked up a bulb that the led's rotate left then right and flashes when the brake is applied, I'm happy with it so far (6 months). Several of my buds have mentioned that it is very noticable.

Well,  I just installed a set of 2357 bulbs from NAPA.  $2.38 tax inc.

Tail light is same as stock but brake light is much brighter.

So far so good.

I've ridden with guys that have these animated LEDs.  They are noticeable but where I really don't like them is when the turn indicators are integrated into them.  I think the brake light gets lost in the turn signal.

I've not run into those. Mine is just the stock tail light with the rotating/flashing bulb.
I see that it could get lost.

Good article about LEDs over at WebBikeWorld: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/led/led.htm

There's a company called Custom Dynamics that sells the super-bright LEDs. Not cheap, but supposed to be better than anything you can pick up at a local parts store.
