Conversion to naked bike
« on: September 09, 2005, 03:00:02 PM »
Has any one used the Holeshot performance conversion to go naked on a 2001 or newer 1200 Bandit S? I understand that you need to fabricate a bracket for the instruments. What about th erest of the kit? Do the factory instrument bracketry from an earlier Bandit work on a 2001? Any info would be appreciated.

I e-mailed him a few months ago about this and he told me I'd have to rig a bracket.  He also told me they were considering prefabricating some themselves for sale, but I just looked over the site and didn't see anything about it, so they either changed their minds or haven't gotten to it, yet.

You can't easily use the 1G stuff on the 2G. Not saying it can't be done, but AFAIK, no one has, so if you go this route, you'll be breaking new ground.

The upper triple clamp on the 2G B12N is different than the S model, it also has a different shell and facia for the gauges. The S models chrome shell doesn't go all the way around the gauges like the N does. For the cleanest change-over with OEM looks, you'd need those three pieces from a 2G N model.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize that the shell on the speedo and tach didn't go all the way around. Maybe I'll try to think of a different way to do this job.

Old thread I know. But I just picked up a 1st gen bandit  1200s (model year 2000, manufacturing date in mid-late 99). I want to covert it to a naked bike. Does anyone know if the headlamp assembly brackets from a 2002 N model will fit my 1st gen bike?
