Awesome information guys....just what I was looking for.  Although it sure is a lot to remember..   Sorta like describing a golf swing even thought I don't play regular golf (watch out in putt-putt).  Keep the good stuff coming!!!   :thanks:

Parking lot practice sounds like a good idea - at least for a time or two till you get run off.   :stickpoke:   Asphalt or concrete is the question.

Hey txbanditrydr, On a stock wheelbase bike, I have found that the higher rpms you leave at, the less likely it is to wheelie. I use to leave at 8,000 rpms on my RF900. Also you need to get you a Pingle strap, and strap the front down. The lower you can get the entire bike the less it will want to wheelie, and practice, practice, practice!

If the Lord is willing, I will make the 1st King of The Track at Rusk.

BHolland, any logic on the higher rpm launch? I used to leave @ 6500 and always had a hard time keeping the bike down. Should I have tried raising rpm? I ask only for knowledge, not to question your experience. :thanks:

For me, it forces me to slip the clutch more, allowing the engine to get past the high torque rpm range before the clutch is completly out. This works well with stock Suzuki clutch plates, but not so well with Barnett
clutches, they are too grabby, wan't slip.
I have seem some good riders that will leave with the rpms at the rev limiter, have never tried that myself.

And for all of you that are wondering....when you rev it up about 7500 rpm be careful how fast you slip the clutch.  If you slip and drop lever it will back flip on you.  It was a hell of a ride but just be careful all of yall.  Drag racing is a great time and sport but be careful.

Hi
Just thought I would let you guys know how my Drag racing season ended.
Well I won our NZ Nationals again. That two years in a row.But I also won the points series that the NZ Drag Racing association was running.
So it was a great season and as soon as I get my trophy I will post up some pic,s
Set my PB of 11.52sec at the Nat's qualifying and was cutting better lights than most of my competitors all year.
Won the final by 0.065 sec and got that on reaction time.
So you don't have to be the fastest or quickest...but you do have to be consistent.
The bike for those who don't know is a 2004 GS1200SS thats stock standard.

Hi
Thanks  :thanks:
But I have just been told that they are going to call the 38th Nat,s meeting "canceled".
We got rained off on the finals day 2 weeks ago and on our "rain date" my class was the only class that got to run their final as it rained again.
So even though I have a time slip that shows that I won the final they are now saying that they are calling the meeting canceled.
That means that we have to run the 38th Nat,s again next season.
So I end up having to win it twice !!!
Just because the poor car drivers never got to run all their rounds.
Us bikes get dicked again.
So if I can afford to run the next season I will go hard out and try and win the 38th Nat,s for the second time :banghead:

Hey 2 years in a row.......... That is fantastic
Took me 3 years just to cut a light! Sounds like you have a real talent for it.

Hi
Just showing off
But here is a pic of me winning this years NZ Nationals.
But they then canceled the meeting and will not recognize the winning run.

If you look close you can see that the front wheel is just scraping the ground...no need to have it 2 feet in the air.

I ran my bike Sunday at Cherokee County Dragstrip. I ran it with the stock swingarm and 14/45 gearing. On every pass, the front was in the air until 4th gear. My best pass on the uni-cycle was 10.42 at 137. I new it was a wasted day, as for as winning anything, but it was fun   :beers:

Hey Bholland

I was going to come on today and ask how it went this weekend in Rusk.  I tried hard to make it over there to watch, but it just wasn't in the cards for me.

Oh well.  Hope all had a good time.

I go with my friend every week to setup, tune, and drag race his car.  I haven't been able to own a good sportscar, muchless abuse it, while in college.  But I got tired of not bringing something of my own so...

I had a loose chain, about 2.5" of slack [didn't realize this at the time as I had it adjusted fairly recently], and a pretty old/worn back tire.  Nothing dangerous, just not what I'd use for great times.  All stock but hole-shot touring exhaust, which had a small exhaust leak.

I did 0 burnouts and did NOT launch.  I'd attempt to take off as quickly as possible without wheelspin or raising the front.  By not launching, I mean I didn't forcefully let out the clutch, just a fast roll-on the throttle.  I did 3 runs, first one was just seeing how the track was.  I just wanted to hit 11's, I could have gone faster if I wanted to.

12.77 w/ 2.08 60ft @ 116 mph.  Didn't WOT until a good ways into 2nd.
12.11 w/2.02 60ft @ 116 mph.  WOT'd as soon as I got into 2nd, more gas in 1st than first run.
11.91 w/2.0 60ft @ 119 mph.  I managed a little WOT in 1st for a couple thousand RPMS.

The bike is certainly capable of high 10's in my eyes.  I did nice, slow, full clutch shifts, and didn't launch whatsoever.

Sound about right for my bike?  Has 27k miles as if it matters.

I have never ridden a stock Bandit on the track, but the MPH looks a little low to me. As for the ET, the launch, 60 ft time :beers:  and reaction time, is 90% of dragracing, and that just takes practice, practice and more practice.
