Title: Engine paint
Post by: naf02b12 on July 01, 2006, 12:31:39 AM
I'm looking to touch up some scuffs on the starter cover.  I checked the Color-Rite web site and they only list the plastic/frame color.  I've been looking at the Krylon paints at the auto parts store, but I'm not sure if the black paint they have (high heat paint) will match.  Any suggestions on what paint to use would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It's called Suzuki Grey (actually black) PJ something.

My '01's engine has a greyer tint to it than my friend's '02, so the colors may have changed. There's a Testor's model spray paint you can pick up at Wal-Mart or your favorite hobby store that's a perfect match for the '01 and older, but it may be a little off if your '02 is the same color as my friend's.

Look in the FAQ's for the Testor's color # or the search feature if you don't readily find it.

Thanks, Paul!  Will the model paint hold up to the higher heat of the engine?

It's been working fine for members here and at Max-Suz for years, so I guess so.  :bigok:
