1st gen 1200 swingarm into 1st gen 600 - wheel sizes?
« on: March 21, 2006, 04:22:30 PM »
Hi all,

I'm considering transplanting a nice polished ally 1g 1200 swingarm into my 1g 600. Would i need any spacers or parts to make my standard 600 wheel/calliper fit? or is it a straight swap?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Rob

I can't answer this directly (since I don't have a 600 to compare to) but I've had good luck comparing the part numbers at Ron Ayers to figure out how compatible things may be between the Bandits.

You've got the swingarm bearing to contend with, the axel diameter and length, the suspension linkage joints and the clearance width for the wheel to be concerned about.

At the very worst, find a local B12 and take some measurements.

Straight swap, Kind of, you will need the B12 axle and torque arm. The axle is only because it must fit the adjusters on the swingarm and is slightly longer.  The torque arm mounts further up the arm on the B12 than the B6, so you will need the longer arm from the B12.

I know this from experience, as my bike has gone through quite a transformation including the swingarm. I had a good tire on my B6 wheel and wanted to wear it out before switching over to the B12 wheel and tire and those items listed above were the only problems I found.
