there is a guy on ebay that makes pretty big frame sliders you could probably use as pegs that wouldn't look to bad, just search for suzuki bandit on ebay and they will come up. Cost is a bit high in my opinion by I haggled with him and he said he would charge me 100 even with no shipping (from the uk)

I'm not ashamed to admit that for longer rides (>300 miles), I need them.

My only riding discomfort stems from decreased blood flow below the knees.  The only things that help (not including stopping) are standing on the pegs, and stretching my legs using the highway pegs.

I remove them for day-to-day commuting.

Do they look stupid?  Sure.  Are they useful?  Very.

'Nuff said.

I admit that the thought has crossed my mind as well...when you're 6'3" sometimes the lower parts are just too bent for more than the average commute.

I have seen a few set-ups. The best one I have seen was a fellow mounted pegs to his Suzuki OEM engine guards, which are removable after a highway trip.

On my last long highway trip, I had a fluid build-up occure in my knees from being cramped too long & was barely able to get off the bike as a result.

So when you see highway pegs on a Bandit, just think of the owner as getting old & not crazy.

I never thought I would say it, but I am considering such a set-up.

Likewise, however, I saw a post hereabouts that showed a B12 with Frame Sliders/knobs that looked reasonable and could also be used as highway pegs......

It's a comfort mod that I'll be making at some stage....

The "mushroom-type" frame sliders don't work as well as they are both too low and too narrow.  The freeway pegs mounted on the Suzuki engine guards work best, at least for me.  Also, if you already have the engine guards (ca. $100?), the freeway pegs are only $25.  I believe the frame sliders are at least $150. YMMV

This is a cut/paste from a thread of mine from another msg. board...in case it reads a little funny...

OK, as hard as it is going to be... try not to turn this thread into a "do highway pegs even belong on a Bandit?" debate. That is already well covered in many other threads! :p

Well, all I can say is that I did a 100 mile ride today for the first time with them on and I absolutely LOVE THEM! I used them when slabbing on the highways enroute to the good roads, then folded them up when the "spirited" riding started. I really appreciated them on the way back, giving the old knees and hips a chance to stretch out. The riding position was really compfortable during the "cruising" part of the ride and reminded me of my 1st bike, 82' Honda Nighthawk 750...hey at least it wasn't a HD!

I did a few agressive turns and as far as I could tell, my footpegs will scrape long before the highway pegs will.

I ordered these cast aluminum pegs off "Fee-bay", they were only about $15 shipped. I "plasti-dipped" the brackets to give some grip and not scratch my engine guards.

Here is an older post I did regarding my SWmotech guards:

To Highway peg or not highway peg that is not the question. The question is, do you ride in comfort for hundreds of miles being able to stretch and move your positions or one position for hundreds of miles and be cramped and sore. That is the question !!!

The answer is simple, be a man and take the pain or wimp out for comfort. I wimped out and find long rides much more enjoyable. I installed a Givi engine guard for the sole purpose of having highway pegs (not to protect the engine). And like the others that have highway pegs, I pull them up as soon as the twisties are in sight.

Like a friend of mine that has a Harley. Steve always made fun of my sport windshield on my Harley. They were for wimps. Then Steve went cross-country. Somewhere around Indiana he bought a windshield and hasn’t taken it off to this day.

Try it. You just might like it. And if anyone makes fun of you, think about Steve.

KX5000 you're going to be sick. Yes I do wear chaps. No fringie shit. But as I get new chrome for my Harley I use whatever I take off  (that will fit) on my Bandit. I have chrome Harley highway pegs, chrome bolt covers, A little chrome here and a little chrome there.

I know, I know... :pukey:  :gagme:  :pukey:

When I bought my Bandit, my brother busted my balls because the air cleaner covers are chrome!  he says "What is that?...a Harley!!"

I think the only thing I'd want to take off a harley and put on my Bandit is my BUTT!! :stickpoke:

To each his own I guess, keep the black side down!

You know guys I will be 50 in next April and you would think that I would be considering highway pegs but the truth is that the only time in my life I wanted them was when I owned a cruiser at age 30 hoping that I would impress some sweet thing (GIRL) on the expressway. But that was a cruiser and although I know some like mayo with their peanut butter sandwiches I cant imagine doing that to my bike, especially since the Bandito rides so well and has such a roomy seat all you have to do is move your ass and stretch your knees apart momentarily and your good for another 100 miles. Don’t butcher the B12...

So can you naysayers ride >10 hrs per day and only sit on the seat and stand on the pegs?

If your answer is "yes," then wow, impressive.

If your answer is "no," then bugger off.

Testy!... Maybe one day when my knees give out, I'll get some too!.. personally I find leaning over the tank and putting my feet up on the rear pegs really comfy to relieve any sort of fatigue I might experience on long trips. PLUS, its a lot more aerodynamic.

Unfortunately, I regularly carry a pillion so using the rear pegs is sort of difficult - I like the idea of Highway Pegs for long rides down boring straight roads, but would remove them for everyday/normal use.

I suppose there is another option - don't take long rides down boring straight roads :duh:  :duh:
