Title: Front Suspension
Post by: Vettezuki on October 25, 2008, 02:13:19 AM
Howdy, this is my first post about my first bike, a rad (http://)2002 B12S (http://"http://motorgen.com/garage/showvehicle.php?vid=213"). I love it, but I wonder if the front suspension and steering could be a little tighter/stable. Not quite sure how to describe it. My friend let me ride his 08 GSXR 1000 a little bit, and (obviously a totally different animal) but it felt like it was completely on rails. I see Hole Shot has got both fork valve and spring combos, as well as a steering dampener kit. I'm imagining these two items might get get me a lot closer to what I'm looking for regarding the feel of the front end, or is this just somehow the basic character of the Bandit?

Yes, you can improve the feel of the B12 with those mods.  :thumb:
I don't think you'll ever get to GSXR levels, but you can get closer.

I noticed that the stock Bandit pushes wide during hard cornering and always feels a little vague.
If you like how the GSXR felt, do what I did and put a set of gixxer forks on your Bandit.
It handles like a dream now. Pick a line and it stays on it.

Race Tech gold valves and springs. Will cost you a little over $300. if you do it yourself. The kit comes with stacking shims to set up your stacking order for your wieght and type of riding. Makes them perform more like a cartrige fork. Makes a world of difference over stock.

Thanks guys. I didn't get a notification so I didn't know there were replies. Have to check my prefs.

What year(s)/size(s) GSXR is appropriate for an 02' B12?

You probably wouldn't think to look in the FAQ for the 250/400, but the same thing applies to the 1G & 2G B6 & B12.  Check out this topic in their FAQ:
