I've been noticing that my front tire is cupping. The tire is a Michelin, but the variation escapes me as I write this. I think this should be telling me something about my front suspension. I don't know what it is though. I am not well educated in suspension workings. Can anyone offer input please?

Is it a Macadam 90 ? if so i think this is a common problem with these tyres after a while.
I would'nt worry too much about the suspension just yet.
Also have you checked your running the correct pressure.

It seems to be that front tire cupping is related to braking. I'm a touring rider and usually ride at a relaxed pace with minimal hard braking. I got just about 11,000 miles on the original Michelin Macadams with NO visible cupping on the front tire. The rear had a well worn flat spot that did affect cornering feel, but it wasn't too bad.

I really noticed a quieter ride with new Metzeler ME880 tires front and rear and they should be well suited to touring even though they're a lower speed rating than the originals.

I am pretty carfeful about running the correct tire pressure. I think the hard braking comment may be closer to home. I don't get the bike out much unless I have time to run the hell out of it into corners and such. Thanks for the advice everyone.

The Macadam 90s are known for cupping. They also came out with Macadam 100s that were supposed to not cup as much. I don't know how they did as they don't even sell Macadams anymore, only pilots.

I got 3k on my macadam 90s on mostly twistys.
