Title: GSXR-1000 Forks
Post by: bgrundy on April 15, 2007, 09:42:31 PM
I know this has probably already been covered here, but a search turned up nothing specific...

I'm looking to do a fork swap, and - triple trees aside - I was wondering if '05-'06 GSXR1K forks (USD) would work for a 2nd Gen Bandit?  I will most likely go with an aftermarket billet triple clamp, so I'm most concerned about length, etc.  Of course they would not be "bolt on" items...I'm just hoping the length would not radically alter the geometry...Any one have any idea?

Thanks.

They're shorter.
OTOH, a few here have gone with Busa forks and they're shorter, too.

If you want USD forks that are of comparable length, you need the ones off an early 90's GSXR750/1100 as discussed in the fork FAQ in the B4 section.

Thanks,

I just picked up a 1992 GSXR 750 Front end.  We'll see how it works.  I'm gonna have to find a wheel and some brake calipers as well...

IIRC, the Bandit's brake calipers will bolt up to the caliper mounts on those.

Now THAT is good news.

I wonder if the front wheel will fit?  It's all academic, since I'll get a chance to see first hand soon.

Thanks for the info.

The Bandit front wheel mounts right up - no problems.

Man...You guys are just full of good news.

Thanks a ton.  I'll probably keep the stock forks on through this summer while I rebuild/powder coat and convert (superbike bars) the GSXR forks.  This board is a great resource.
