Just joined the list - had '97 1200 for nine years, 45,000 miles, till a friend went agricultural with it July of last year.  Filled the time between with an FZ-1, but now I'm back to Banditry, a new 1250, red (the fastest color).  About 750 miles so far, first service completed, thinking of the alterations to come.  Have already installed a lower set of bars, next is a replacement windscreen.
Any input here would be welcome - Zero Gravity has yet to release anything for the new Bandit (they say it's in the works, but have no time frame).

Thanks

Garth

Joined awhile ago and have been lurking, and reading.
the b1250 is my second bike ever, first was a honda cb650.  Talk about an improvement.

I hadnt even bought the bandit before I started looking into customizing it, cant wait until parts are available.

Zen Man,

Make that number 34. Picked up my 1250 w/ABS a few weeks ago. Had a 96 B6 and got a lot of useful information from you guys so I figured it was time to join.

I have to smile everytime I ride, the 1250 is everything my old B6 was just better. Now it's time sell the Honda VT1100, and say good bye to low ground clearance and tractor engines.

Willie got his '07 12.5 June 21. Not much mileage (2,300) due to long trip to Fairbanks on the VStrom in July and August. It's winter here now and the bikes are stored and the snowblower is staged. Non-ABS, Black, #29 off the line.

I have had my black 07 Bandit 1250S for a week now. I only have 400 miles on it so far but I love it! I haven't even started my other bikes in a week, they feel neglected  This is going to be one of my favorites for sure.

New/old Bandit owner here.

Well, after months of hemming & hawing, I bit the bullet back on November 11, hitched up my trailer to my wife's minivan, drove 3.5 hours (7 round trip) to Chatanooga from Asheville, and brought a faster red B1250 home with me - for $100 over invoice!  $7164 - no prep fees, doc fees, or any associated BS fees.

RT Cycles of Fort Oglethorpe, GA (just south of Chatanooga) iz da bomb.  If you live anywhere in the southeast, I highly recommend them.  Family owned & operated since 1973, they are straightforward, honest & engage in none of the rip-off sales techniques practiced by my local stealer (MR Cycles in Asheville, who wanted full list plus about $400 in bogus fees).

I had a major pucker incident on the way home: as I was hauling the bike in a trailer after dark through the ungodly traffic mess called Knoxville on I-40, a car behind me started flashing its lights - I thought it was just some ignoramous P.O.ed about being passed by a minivan.  Then he swung around beside me and the passenger rolled down his window and started shouting something.  So I rolled down my window, too.  Now its pretty hard to hear when your traveling at 75 mph, but after about 4 tries, he yelled really loud "YOUR BIKE'S LAYING DOWN!!"  (I hadn't seen it fall over in my rearview mirror because it was dark & I was dueling w/ the 75 m.p.h. bumper-to-bumper traffic.)

I had one of those OH CRAP moments...several minutes, actually, since I couldn't pull off until the next exit about 2 miles ahead.  Visions of scratched paint, gouged plastics, and broken turn signals filled my head; every little bump and surface irregularity in the road made me wince... but lo and behold, when I finally got stopped & the bike upright, I couldn't find a single scratch on it.  Not a chip, dent, or ding either.  It was miraculous!

What's embarassing is that it had taken me & a bike shop employee about 30 minutes to figure out how to best tie my new purchase down,  and i thought it wouldn't budge in a hurricane, but apparently one of the cam-type tie-down straps came loose and gradually let the bike fall over.

Due to the weather and a hectic work schedule, I only have about 65 miles on it, but man is it smooth! and quick!  I'm looking forward to breaking it in.

Now I really have to sell my '01 1200S - 3 bikes are making the garage a little crowded.

:welcome: :congrats: I brought my red one home OCT 16th 180 miles away for a great deal but you got a better deal then I for $600 less wow. This time I bought a handlebar strap that helps keep the bike steady without marring the fairing and duct taped the tie down cams closed so they wouldn't loosen. Well it could have been worse, they could have yelled "your is back there" LOL. Anyway congrats and welcome.

I bought mine 1250s 20.6.2007 from germany because price was 2000€ cheaper although I pay duty.
Now I have ridden 8500km.
Torque is good but power may be little more.

Compared to my sold B1200 the effects felt or change in perception between Throttle-body injection (TBI) and carburetor is evident just like it was in early cars if you ever drove a performance 4 barrel Carb vehicle compared to  the smooth, measured and metered out feel of fuel from TBI, whereas mechanical jetted carburetors tend to dump the fuel in more abruptly, at least within this context, giving the user a disproportional rush of acceleration between throttle input and fuel feed to the engine. I felt a similar difference in early TBI cars as well, but it is more perception then anything else and the trade off with TBI is smooth consistent predictable engine performance. This is more evident in high performance MX and enduro motorcycles where TBI is doing away with the uncontrolled engine hit of acceleration where in racing the uncontrolled acceleration hit is not your friend, although recreationally this Carb hit is allot of fun and exhilarating. My point is given the choice and in consideration of all TBI's practice benefits over Carbs, I would pick TBI every day of the week and twice on Sunday. However like in the automobile that suffered through the short comings of early TBI, I don't think we will fully realize FI's full performance in production motorcycles until Multi-point fuel injection (MPI) replaces TBI in production motorcycles. I believe MPI will provide much better felt response and performance over TBI just like it did in production cars. I suppose that will be the next big marketing tool for most production motorcycles and hopefully it will not take to many years to get there.

Hmmm.... while bikes are using TBI, most of them are using one throttle body per cylinder and those throttle bodies are mounted as close - or closer - to the intake valve than the injectors on most automotive MPI systems.  Very few cars ever used multiple throttle bodies, and those that did, I can't think of any that used one per cylinder. (Maybe some exotics like Ferrari?) Therefore, I don't see how an automotive style MPI system would be an improvement over what they're running now.
