I mean, JUST got it. Very spur of the moment! It's a red 07, with 56 miles (yes, 56) and had no reserve.
Anyhow, everyone feel free to post about quirks, or ANYTHING that every new owner should know.
I get a different bike every year, have had MANY bikes, but only one Suzuki, a 1k VStrom last year. So, let's hear all the abnormalities!!
Thanks,
Don

A particular bad quirk is a twisting phenomenon that occurs in the wrist while riding down the road leading to one of these... :bigok:
-
congrats on your purchase! :welcome:
Can't help you with quirks as I have the old model. Hope you like it, love the style of getting a new bike a year!

Yeah, I got that a LOT with the '04 FZ1 I had 2 years ago. Damn, that thing was a rocket. I was actually looking for an 06/07 FZ, but never found one close, which is how I ended up bidding on this Bandit. I know they're a lot less HP, but have heard great things about the torque. And, how could I pass up a bike with 56 miles? for $5800?
S'pose to be showroom....better not be any surprises!!
So, anything that MUST be done, or are they perfect as is?
-
You won't have any regrets getting the 07 Bandit instead of the 06/07 FZ-1 you were looking for. I sold me 06 FZ-1 because it was too peaky as far as HP goes, I missed TORQUE. Got an 07 Bandit after much research when I realized I overlooked this bike. Very satisfied with the Bandit, mucho torque, enough HP, fast enough, way more comfortable than the FZ-1.
The previous generation FZ-1 is probably comparable to the new Bandit. I'm a happy camper.
Aloha,
Huladog

Oh yeah!!! that's what I wanna' hear!!!!
:thanks:
Don

Congrats, Don. When ya gettin' it?
-
Thanks, not sure yet. Gotta' call Mon. It was done thru' an auto dealer. The sale also had an offer to deliver up to 200 miles free, so I'm gonna' have 'em meet me part way. It's in Ky. So, It'll depend on when they can do the meetup.
I was hoping to get it Monday, but I can wait a bit to save half the drive.

Evidently the new gen bandits were pretty well debugged right out of the gate , I'm on all the forums associated with the bike and have heard of no 'first model year gltches'.
Most people are making comfort and ergonomic mods , but that goes with any bike . Not everybody has the same body or riding positions ya know? Almost everrybody hates the seat and mine was a painful at first but at around 1000 miles on it now it feels a lot better. I advise mirror extensions

What's the biggest Bandit forum, no offense guys. I had trouble finding ANY forum.
-
the three i found are on maximum-suzuki , big sub forum at two wheeled texans and of course here at banditalley
-
Well.... besides us there are a couple of places - each with their own strengths.
Maximum Suzuki (http://www.maximum-suzuki.com)
Must sign up to view - they also cover Katanas and DR's
Two Wheeled Texans - Bandits (http://www.twtex.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=94)
Strange little sub-forum that drew folks from all over the country on 1250's - not just Texas
-
Thanks, I like to be as informed as possible!!! :thanks:
-
This one is the best, of course! :bandit: :thumb: :winner:
-
hey congrats by the way :beers:
One thing about the new 1250 that is a little frustrating for me is the lack of aftermarket parts and accessories , they will come in time i guess. I had to make my own luggage rack and backrest , came out pretty well I think
-
If your planning to make "improvements", check out Dale Walkers Holeshot; www.holeshot.com
You'll find additional info on his 1250 updates on his forum at Max Suzuki, but or course, the best info and group of Bandit riders is this forum.

Got 'er home today!! Showroom clean, literally! Since the 56 miles were put on last summer, it's been sitting in a new car showroom, where the seller is gen.manager, and son of the dealership's owner!

I'm guessing your verizon page isn't share friendly - cuz I can't see 'em. You can load them to photobucket or a site like that for sharing here.
-
beats me, always works on other forums?
BTW, Funny thing today, I called my Ins.co. to get coverage before trailering the B home, they wouldn't cover it!
Back to Progressive I guess.
-
Check the url, then. When I paste the urls into a browser, I: "Not Found
The requested URL /merc4/b2.jpg was not found on this server." :headscratch:
-
Wow, you're right! Maybe it's a temporary Verizon thing. I'll wait a while, maybe it'll fix itself. I wondered why I didn't at least get the little red x's in a box!
Thanks for your help!!
EDIT: Geez, I had put 'em in a sub folder. :duh:

wow nice looking bike

The pics are working for me. :bigok:
:congrats: Very nice looking bike!
...and the price? :thumb:

Well Gents,
Believe it or not, I rode it for the first time today! :bigok: I know.....what took so long? The weather has been crappy, I've been busy, yadda....yadda..... So, since it was from out of state, I had to get the vin# inspected at the dmv before I could get the Ohio title, and, of course, plates. So I put on the plate from my other bike, and rode like an old woman on the way there, to make sure I didn't get stopped. (fictitious plates)
The riding position reminds me of the FZ, but definitely not the power. I couldn't get on it too hard, but I thrashed it a little when I was lucky enough to find a stretch of completely dry road. She's definitely got torque, everywhere. The ride was extreeemely windy, only because of a 40mph cross wind. Y'all know what it's like, scraping a peg just to go straight, I'm sure. So, it's now legal, all the PITA stuff is taken care of, and the odo is clear up to 85 miles!!
Totally off topic, when I got home, our basketball pole/backboard/rim/ had busted off, from rust, and wind, and was laying just behind my '08 4dr Wrangler, the love of my life!! I was afraid to look! But, I jumped up to see the top of the hardtop, nuthin' broke or scratched, no body damage, the only thing it actually hit, was the spare tire on the tailgate, which deflected it away from the rear window.
Moral of Story? Appreciate good luck when it comes your way, 'cuz it could go the other way next time!! :beers:
-
Hiya Don and welcome to the forum!!! :welcome:
This bike will grow on you every time you throw a leg over it.
The arm ripping torque is through the entire powerband. May not have a ton of HP but the torque really does make up for it. Also with just an exhaust, TFI, & o2 senser override you can get another 30 ponies. The seat is like sitting on a brick but can be easily fixed. The stock exhaust is huge and heavy....also easily fixed.
I have owned many bikes in my time but the Bandito 1250 is the best "all-around" bike I have ever had or even rode.
Enjoy your new bike and :congrats: on the awesome price.
-
I already shortened the stock pipe for now, as for the the seat, 30 miles never seemed so far
-
Believe it or not the seat will get much better. After my 50 mile ride home from the dealer my butt hurt so bad I thought I was gonna cry ; now 1100 miles later I think it feels pretty good. I did raise the front portion of the seat with the adjustable riser blocks to stop the sliding forward while braking though
-
I sent my seat in to Frank Turnier at Spencer Motosports (www.agreatdaytoride.com) in preparation for a 500 miles 1 way from San diego to Sacramento. Total cost for the whole seat... $100 + shipping. Before, i could go a max of an hour before i really started feeling it in my rear. Now? 4 hours before I even noticed anything. Best $$ i've spent yet
