Title: Keep Blowing Signal Fuse***** NEED HELP!
Post by: chevsuz12 on March 13, 2008, 01:36:16 PM
Hi, I have a 1999 B1200.  I have started blowing the "Signal" fuse.  I have the Suzuki Service manual and found that the following connected to the fuse:
- Front Brake Switch
- Rear Brake Switch
- Turn Signal Relay
- Tachometer
- Fuel Gauge
- Idiot Light Cluster

The manual states there is an orange/green wire that is common amongst all of these.  (of course these items all stop working when blown, this means NO BRAKE LIGHT and NO TURN SIGNALS!

Also when the fuse blows, the motor revs real high then ignition kicks out for an instant (nearly crash every time!) then starts running fine.  This is probably caused by the current rush through the system upon blowing the fuse.

The issue is intermittant, so I am having one hell of a time trouble shooting!  I have replaced the fuse many times, only for it to blow within several days, or several minutes.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?  Any suggestions before I rip apart the entire harness tracing this wire?

Thanks.

Sounds like you've got a short somewhere, so stating to trace wires sounds like the best idea to me.

+1

At least you have a pretty solid idea of which wire it is.  Since, it's most likely shorting at a location where it touches the frame or metal, that should help cut down the search process.
