Late model GSXR mirrors on a 1G
« on: October 14, 2007, 12:58:29 PM »
When my son bought his 1G B12, he felt the handlebar mounted mirrors were ugly... not just the style of the OEM bits, but the look of them being mounted there. He made it a quest to find something that would work. First he tried some cheapy mirrors with built-in signals, and while they worked, they were pretty small, had limited adjustabilty and didn't give a very clear view to the rear. He really liked the mirros on the latest GSXR's and when he found a pair for sale here on the board, took a gamble. We did have to do some minor fab work and experimentation and the current brackets either need to be remade out of a little heavier material or tie them together so the mirrors don't bounce as much, but they're a huge improvement over his first attempt... and they look pretty good, IMHO, so I thought I'd share (cuz I got tired of waiting for him to post   ).

Well, you're not too likely to ever see your shoulders or elbows in 'em.  :bandit:

And he does have flat drag bars on it, so the riding position is lower.

Just realized Pauly was your son.....

Mirrors look nice. Definitely different. I'm glad he found a way to mount them. I sure as hell would have never thought about  that.

That set up gives new meaning to the words "scraping pegs".

Not sure how heavy those things are but the fairing stay may not be meaty enough to support the weight for the long term.

Interesting set up to be sure.

Using his ingenuity to modify or fabricate something that he likes works for him is a great attribute and shows character. You did a good job Red01.

I'd guess they weigh about the same as a set of 2G B12 mirrors.
