Wreck and rebirth pictures
« on: August 26, 2007, 09:14:45 PM »
Hi-sided a couple of weeks ago. Here are the pics of the damage to the bike and some of my rebuilding (still in progress).

Even got my new Hyabusa shock in. Only took a little airbox modification.

More pics as I get parts.

Finished it today!

The new D&D can

Engine crash bars

New Harris grips

And some bling bling bar ends

New signals

A video of the new D&D can. Has a way better tone than the old one (probably the new baffling). You can hear the loose bolt holding it on. A few turns of the wrench fixed that.

I haven't had a chance to test out the new Hayabusa shock yet. Only put 2 miles on it tonight and I can already tell it sits higher and is going to ride a bit nicer.

I do have to tweak the handlebars just a tad. I have them just a little low now.

Looking good!  Sounds like you made out OK for a high-side.  Keep it shiny side up!

Hello StangMATA! My silver Bandit looked like yours only on the other side. Where did you get your parts at? All from the dealer or aftermarket? Just now starting on mine. I had the Suzuki engine gaurds on already and being on the left side saved me millions $$$$. The bike slid 102 feet and did not touch the cases. I like the hand grips and bar ends.
Thanks

Hey dragbike. Let me run down the list for you.

Right fairing - from suzuki - $170

Handlebars - $30 used. I don't recommend this because they could be tweaked just slightly and if you are anything like me, it will drive you nuts!

Harris Grips - $25 - you will need to file off the little lip at the end of the throttle tube. No big deal.

Bar ends - $25

Brake lever - $30 suzuki

Signals - lockhart phillips - $25 Suzuki wanted $50/ea!!!

I think that covers about all of it.

Hey Ian,

The bike looks really good.  Gotta question though,.. how did the wreck happen?  The damage looks a lot like I would expect from a low-side... but if you say it was a high-side, I do believe you...

Long story short...

I came into a right hand corner too hot and the bike slid. When it grabbed, the ass end came over top of me as I high-sided. The bike was facing down the wrong side of the road. Hence why all the damage is on the right side.

OUCH!  Yeah, that's what confused me.  I'm glad you're OK!!  Those high-sides can be really dangerous... It could have turned out a lot worse.
