Longer sidestand

'97 B1200, rear raised 2".
This mod makes the centerstand unusable and the sidestand is so short that the bike is at too precarious of an angle for my liking. I don't really want to "mod" the existing sidestand by putting some sort of block under the foot. I want to know if there are any other OEM sidestands from other models that will fit the B12 that will be longer and let the bike sit at a more reasonable angle when on the sidestand.

This won't help... I'll tell you that right up front.

I put a block on mine and it works great.  In fact, a wooden block (oak) carved to the foot shape with a piece of metal on the bottom - all painted black and you never even know it's there.  It started out a temporary fix but 60,000 miles later it's still in place.

Nothing worse than a too short side-stand... well, maybe a bike that fell over because of one.

I'm not particularly familiar with the stand on your bike, but you could take a look at some of the stands on some of the dirt/dual sport bikes. Maybe check out the DRZ400s or DR650s, you might be able to cludge something together. Actually, some of the off-road aftermarket and web sites might be very helpful places to start. Check out places like Enduro Engineering, Moose Racing, MSR...maybe some forums like www.thumpertalk.com or dirtrider.net might have useful info as well.

Well, I didnt lengthen my wifes side stand, but I had one shortened. Presumably the same process could be done to lengthen your stand. I took my side stand to a local welder/metal shop, told them to take out one inch between the chalked lines, and weld the two pieces back together. The Weld is actually stronger than the original pre-welded condition stand (heat treated). They actually gave me the chunk they took out back, sorry, I think I threw it away, otherwise I'd send it to you so they have something to work with when adding length if you do the same. 
Up close you can tell , but because I sanded and used black hi-gloss metal black paint on it, you can hardly tell. Works great. Cost $40.

 I just put a pc of wood under the stand. In my drive way I have a chunk of marble that I leave for when I pull in.

Cut a 2" square piece of hockey puck with a hacksaw. 

Epoxy glue it to the flat steel pad on the bottom of the stand.
