Delkevic Exhaust
« on: February 02, 2011, 04:14:35 PM »
Hey all!  Haven't been on in a bit because I was upset with the bandit.  Carbs are not my specialty and I lost patience and just rode my TLS for the rest of the season.  I have cooled off though and found out my buddy's brother is a wiz-kid with carbs and will get me running!  So if I'm getting the carbs jetted and rebuilt anyway, I figure I should do the exhaust while I'm at it and avoid having to rejet twice.  Which leads me to Delkevic.

I have been doing research on their slip ons and see they offer options for a multitude of bikes at competitive pricing.  I know you get what you pay for, but for the most part I've seen lots of happy customers.  I decided on their stainless steel slip on to get rid of the sewing machine stock can.  Then I saw they also offer stainless headers!  The previous owner dented one of the pipes on my bike pretty good and I developed a gasket leak at the head this summer, so might as well replace the header while I have it off!

I've been talking with Luke over at their US distribution center (they are a UK company) and he ordered in a header for me from across the pond.  Once I get the parts in I will let you all know what I think of quality and fitment.  Hopefully they will be good replacements for other people who share my situation.  As of right now I am waiting for a total cost and shipping quote, as he hasn't gotten the headers in yet.

Has anyone else on here tried this company out?

-Matt  :beers:

I  got a replacement oil cooler for my K4 600from Delkevichi which was a perfect like for like swap!  :congrats:
Unfortunately i can't really comment to much on shipping (being in the UK and all) however it was quick and well packaged.
overall the cost was very respectable and i have found no fault with the cooler.

I was thinking about replacing the headers with Delkevic ones so if anybody has got any views I'd be interested to hear them..

I have heard good things about their oil coolers too. How long have you had it for?  Are you 1 of those crazy Brits who rides in the winter and picks up all that salt with your cooler and header? Luke said the header is a best seller in your neck of the woods bc the salt eats the stock header.

Shipping shouldn't be too expensive because I am only paying forr it from the US Distribution center. Once I get a total price and shipping quote I will post it here. It should still be far cheaper than most full systems.

I've had the cooler for about a year now and really can't fault it! temperature's  don't feel any worse than OEM and its a perfect fit :-)

Indeed i'am have ridden all winter so far and the grime is  pretty bad.. its going to take some major scrubbing to get the headers  :annoy:

Well Luke is still waiting for the headers to come in so we might as well bullshit lol.

Maniac, the Delkevic cooler was significantly cheaper than an OEM one right? The header is cheap for sure.  So why do you fellas ride through the winter anyway? I'm ASSuming it has at least something to do with the cost of petrol? I hate driving my own car in the winter because of this damn salt! The car has less nooks and crannies to scrub grime out of than the bike and i'm not going to tip over if I hit some ice! lol

It was indeed! if i remeber right the Delkevic cooler cost £119 whereas the OEM was quoted at £300!!  :banghead:
I think the main reason i ride year round is the thrill of riding.. its something i have been unable to replicate in any other way.
It also helps that our winters tend to be cold and wet. Ice is odd and unfortunately snow is rare! your certainly right about cost as well. fuel prices over here are astronomical and the bike definitely gives me the best miles (and fun) for my hard earned.

Holy hell! I would have gone with the Delkevic for 1/3 the price too lol. Glad you were able to get a good deal there.

Ah, the lack of snow and ice really helps to explain it. I live in the north-eastern united states and our town has gotten well over 60 inches of snow this year lol.  I would be riding through the winter myself if I lived by you then. The cage just doesn't provide as many thrills per gallon lol . Besides, they make heated gear for a reason! Lol.

Looks like cost to my door will be about 350  :yikes: (american dollars, whatever they are worth now...)

I am thinking I will get the 18 inch muffler so it doesn't sound like a Honda civic. Luke from Delkevic also recommended the 18 is bc its throatier sounding. Hoping to order by the end of the week at latest!
