gen2 bandit 38mm flat slide cables / need 1216 kit
« on: January 27, 2011, 12:04:17 AM »
hope all is well here. i got my 89 gsrx1127 installed into my bandit all fine last year BUT. it failed to give me the second gear power wheelie i wanted so have decided to go with a ported street strip head/cams mikuni 38mm flat slides(like i had in my 81 gs1100e with an 1166 kit in it)
it seems to me that i was just able to use my stock cables with those 38 flat slides before but now they are too long. i did got with the pro motion push pull set that was advised and it seems to work fine other than i have my stock kill and start switch dangling off to the side and am weary of something going wrong and no having my kill switch a thumb away.... primarily that 2nd gear power wheelie at 60-70 mph. does anyone know the proper cables one would order to retain the stock ignition throttle assembly with those flat slides? i already tried putting the old assembly with the new cables and it didnt work out right. im on the lookout for and 89-92 stock cylinder or a used 1216 kit for some
decent price. im in the jewelry business if someone would like a really great deal im in a position to make someone really happy with a trade too. anyway any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks alot,
pauly

ps i bought some parts off of a guy and theres a 750 head in there how would one go about identifying what year or any other info about it?
i could also use a used set of sleeves ill need to reinstall into a sleeveless 1127 cylinder i got. if anyones got any bored to 1216 or stock either way would be fine. the calender is about to turn to february and i dont have all the parts for my engine ;-(

If you'd like to go to a 1340-1371, you can get sleeves for $73.50 from APE Racing.

According to the blurb on the page, they will rebuild your block, too.
Quote from: APE Racing
APE has initiated an new serving of rebuilding older blocks into like new condition. Find a used block on e-bay, race forum want ads pages, etc. Send it to APE. We will rebuild it with new sleeves, new pistons, set up just like a new block. Pricing will depend on the condition of the blocks we receive.
