Title: Major difference after suspension tweaks
Post by: BanditoNova on July 26, 2008, 08:11:05 PM
I just increased 01 B12's preload on the rear from #6 to #7 and the damping up to #3 from #2. I also dialed down the adjusters on the front forks to the first line(turning 'in' clockwise) and this has made quite a difference. I took it for a whirl down a local twisty and on one particular corner I could actually 'feel' the road and what the rear tire was doing on it. Bike is nimbler and seems to track corners a much smoother. I'm 6' 200lbs and this works for me. Now I'm assuming that higher #'s on the damping adjuster make the shock return faster? - anyone correct me if I'm wrong

higher # = more damping and rebound
3 is where i have mine
and maximum preload

forks have preload only
found that too much preload raises front and makes me run wide.

Thanks for that Dave. I think I will dial down the front shocks to the second line as I have noticed when I come out of corners hard the bike almost wants to rear-up and I get a 'feeling' that I'm riding a chopper with ape-hangers!

exactly where i have mine (second ring)

btw i weigh 190 lbs.

this seems to be the best compromise
i am amazed at how much difference minor suspension adjustments make.

busa shock is next mod.
then gold valves

you can raise the forks in the triple clams for quicker steering BUT will reduce ground clearance and maybe induce a tankslapper at high speed.
