New Bandit 1250 Revealed:

Guys: For you folks out there that like the full-faired look, it looks like Suzuki heard you cries! http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=38073  Some styling tweeks, but it generally has the bones of the old bike. I'm sure there are more details to follow.   ,BK

Other than the full fairing not very "new".

What Suzuki REALLY needs to to is pump up the HP on the 1250. 100hp isn't very competitive in todays cycle world. 15 to 20 more ponies would be nice and it can be done from the factory very easy.

As far as the full fairing go's living here in the Southwest with hot summers I wouldn't want one...the half fairing is perfect.....now if I lived in Minnesota that would be different. ALL full fairing bikes make it hotter for the rider.

I do like the blacked out engine MUCH better than the silver on my 2007.

Even that's not new... same as the GSX650F.

Went to the International Motorcycle Show in Dallas tonight. Suzuki must be very confident with parts of their product line (which includes the Bandits), because they WEREN'T THERE!   ,BK

 :yikes: WOW!  From being a major IMS sponsor for the last several years to a complete no-show!  Maybe there's something to the reason that the VME (Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts) isn't participating in the Seattle show this year.  I'd heard the VME management was displeased with the IMS management and that's why they aren't playing.

I reread my post, and I meant to state that Suzuki was there, but with only selected bikes. The entire line wasn't even close to being present. In particular, the Bandits were not there. Sorry about any confusion...   ,BK

Thumbs down here. I don't like the Bandit with lowers. It's supposed to be a mean looking bike with that huge black engine sticking out there in all it's glory for the world to see. Imho, it's supposed to look like it beats up on other (plastic) bikes and takes their gas money.

Besides this, I don't like the water cooling or the silver engine color of them either. The latter being personal taste I guess.

The horsepower...hmm tuff call. 100+ ponies is tons more than one needs on the street, but the primal part of my brain dreams about a turbo Bandit if I ever win the lotto. Probably kill myself though. Nicky Hayden I'm not.

Meh, perhaps I'm just getting older, every year I like the new bike models less and less. A few exceptions, but not many. I find myself looking at the old bikes instead for a future retro cafe racer project if I ever get the $$$.

My mind must be getting simple with age but I had to strain to see any noticeable head-turning difference. I do like the lower fairing, wonder if it will fit the earlier 1250's. If so a color match in red would be a great buy for my 07.

 if I were able to buy a new bike,and had time to take some long trips it would definatly be a consideration. The lowers would be a plus for wind protection(more cold days than hot where I live) and make for easier clean up after long miles on the road. But what I don't like is the new bikes (not just the Bandit) are gaining weight. The new  Bandit is still lighter than the new VFR weighing in @ over 600 lbs! But Then if I was buying the bike for touring I quess it still would'nt be that bad. The suspension is still just good enough,instead of top shelf units.Wich would probably make a deciding desisson if I were to but a new bike.Seeing that I'm not in the market for a new bike however, it doesn't matter. Buy the time I can get away on some trips on a new bike new models will be out again.(5 more years of hard labor till my bills ease up)

You make a good point If Suzuki would have been clever they would have planned all the aftermarket performance enhancers as aftermarket merchandise. I'm talking of course about the performance mapping changes they could have sold as software upgrades. I suppose they will get smart and do it eventually, or perhaps they aren't willing to take the chances with regulatory fines restrictions that small aftermarket performance retailers do with mods who have a smaller on the radar.

what does a PC and pipe do?  Seems like Dale Walker had a video advertising his tune up 1250 and was hitting 160 (170?).
