BLUEDOG....where are you located?

Are you going to sell that other low mileage motor the bike came with? With only 6,000 miles on it I'm wondering why you bothered to buy another one?

I'm parting the 1700 mile motor I just got after I take the stuff I need off it. I'm keeping the original motor in the bike. I don't want to change the whole motor out.
Like I explained earlier, the parts I needed brand new would have cost around $500. I found this motor for a bit more than twice that price, so I can part it out and make most if not all of my money back. Plus keep some spare parts like the clutch plates and cam chain that I'll need to replace eventually anyway.
I started a thread in the 1250 technical section about disassembling the motor if anyone is interested.

 :thanks:
Thought I would have it running today but yesterday I dropped the oil pan to check for gear teeth and metal chunks but it was really clean. Had to remove the exhaust and radiator hoses to do it, but at least I know it's ok in there now.
So this weekend I'm hard at it I can't wait to ride this bike after reading so much about the handling and power, it's driving me crazy!

Another, albeit remote, possibility to buy/sell used parts besides epray is dragbike (http://sell.dragbike.com/index.asp).  The parts I've seen are the air cooled (GSXR derived) engines, not water cooled.  But, it is another possibility.

Update
Ok I got the bike together a couple weeks ago and she started right up, idles good, no leaks so I'm happy. Went for my first ride and WOW what a monster! Then about 20 minutes into the ride it started cutting out and bogging when I'd give it throttle.
Brought it home and checked all the hoses and connections under the tank. I browsed all the forums here and elsewhere about FI issues like this and checked all the things I could find. Took it out again and it did the same thing.
So I pulled the tank and fuel pump and looked at the filter-strainer on the pump and it looked a little dark. Pulled it off and couldn't suck air through it. So I got a new one. Put it together and now she runs GREAT!
The previous owner had said the starter gears broke because it had run out of gas and when he tried restarting the motor coughed and kicked and broke the gears. Makes sense because these mesh filters will clog up easily when the gas is low and the impurities are concentrated like that. The bike will run fine the first few miles and then start starving when the fuel pump runs dry and starts sucking on the filter harder.
Anyway glad it's running. I'd recommend anyone having issues like this especially no FI light or faults showing to check the fuel pump strainer. Worked for me.

Thanks for the heads up I'll check it out!  :thumb:

BTW I have 1250 engine parts for sale in the classifieds here if anyone is interested.
