- Dynojet kit stage 1
- k&n pods
It has always been my impression that you needed a stage 2 or 3 to run pods. I stage one is usually for minor mods(i.e. pipe, extra hole for airbox).

Looking good, but I must say that a Suzuki must remain a Suzuki in every aspect.

^^^^ How odd. I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean?
Anyway, looking good dude. I'm in the middle of streetfightering mine. I'm about to buy an R1 tail end that's made for the bandit, but I like the look of what you've done.
What did you have to do to "mod" the R1 tail unit. I've seen that others have had to cut off the bandit subframe and weld an R1 one on. To be honest, I'd rather cut the exisitng subframe to fit and then mode the tail unit as you've done if that's easier?

You just answered your own question.
-
I haven mod the r1 unit, i just chopped of the last 10 inches on the original subframe along with all the extra bits standing out, and the r1 tailpiece actually fit's really good.. can post some more pictures through the progress to show you how..
-
Yeah - some people have a thing about using non-zuk parts. I think that tail looks sweet. Nice job. :bigok:
-

Yeah that would be fantastic if you could. I'd definately be interested to see how you did it, any problems you had along the way and if you had to fabricate anything yourself.
-
Ify our running an aftermarket exhaust and K&N Pods I highly suggest stage 2 jetting.
You may be able to get away with stage 1 without the aftermarket exhaust.
-
Whats the difference between stage 1 and stage 2 jetting? Just the sizes of the jets? needles?
Buildt the r1 tail with some extra fiberglass today, just to strengthen everything.. Also a picture of my LED rear light..

Yes, both.
While that tail light looks cool and may allow you to dump turn signals, they are so close together people will have a hard time telling which way you intend to turn - unless they are RIGHT behind you.
Since that tail section flares out, it would be better to blend in some LED signals out a little further...
-
Yes i know they are close togehter, but i thought id try with theese first, and eventually make som extra turnsignals further away..
I ordered dynojetkit from dynojet.com item number 3120, wont this work with k&n pods? i did'nt see anything called stage 1 or 2 on their website..
-
According to the Dynojet website, (http://www.dynojet.com/jetkits/motorcycle/suzuki.php#600) they only offer a Stage 1 for your 1G B6... and the instructions say it's for a bike with the stock airbox with a stock or K&N filter. K&N pods are different.
Holeshot does offer a Stage 2 kit for the B6 and if you already have the pods, you can buy their kit without the pods.
Not sure how well the Dynojet kits work on the 600's, but they are problematic on the 1200's.

What are the problems on the 1200's that run the dynojet kit?
-
Difficulty getting them to run smootly across the board. Stumbles and flat spots are more common, bigger and harder to tune out than with kits from Holeshot, Ivans or Factory-Pro.
-
Update: Fitted bellypan, and fabricated my own seat... Looks pretty good.. Removed all wires and contacts from the sides and placed them under the seat unit to hide them..

-
Looks really good so far!! Do you have any more pics of the tail (from the side)? What are you going to do with the gap between the seat unit and the subframe (Where the rear brake fluid resevoir is)? Fill it or just leave it?
-
I think im going to keep it open.. I've hided all the wires so there is nothing but the brake fluid resevoir showing.. Cut of all the metalbits standing out.. Can find some pictures later.. Im also adding a Pyramid Plastic Rear Hugger to get some dirt protection..
Did a chop on the front mudguard, as i thought it was a bit long and standard in the front... I think it looks nice...

Looking good. Looks much better with all the wires tucked up out of the way. I'm following this thread with much interest as I'm doing pretty much the same with mine. I got an R1 back end off ebay and have also hacked the subframe off to fit it.
Out of interest, how are you securing the fairing (and seat) to the subframe. I can see no obvious mounting points on the R1 fairing or seats. I'm going to "create" some brackets etc to do all this but wondered if you'd found an easier way?
Have you come across any difficulties with any of it yet?
-
I made some brackets myself, can see if i can get som pictures of the mounting points.. It was pretty strait forward.. I think I'm using about 3 mounting points for the fairing, whilest the undertray and seat i fastened with velcro.. can get some pictures of that too, i am getting my rear seat and typhoon slipon from the post office tomorrow.. Man I'm exited!! wohoo
-
Yeah any pictures you have would be great, especially showing the fairing brackets and mounting to the frame.
It also looks like you've covered the holes where you chopped the subframe? Or is that part of your undertray?
-
No, its not a piece of the undertray, i closed the holes with a piece of L shaped steel, welded it on, and used a grinder to get the shape right... Looks pretty good, but the most important thing, is that it holds the frame toghether, making it strong.. As with the passenger foot rests, i chopped them of and grinded the welds down.. so it's going to be a clean look.. Got my slipon and rear seat today.. yess!!

Did you find it necessary to cut the R1 seat to make it fit? There doesn't appear to be enough room between the fairing when fitted and the tank?
