Well, I finally got my 009 rear and got it mounted last thursday. To say the least it got a trial by fire. Its first ride was a 150 mile interstate jaunt in pouring rain. The first few miles were, ahem, a character building experience, but after that it felt surprisingly good for a new tire in the rain. Thus far I have almost 900 miles on the front (damn Ive been riding alot) and I put about 600 on the rear over the weekend. Im still getting used to the handling characteristics, but thus far Im pleased. They take a while to warm up, at least 4 or 5 miles, but once warm they seem to grip fairly well. Im not ready to bow down and sing praises to the shinko gods just yet, but I plan on hitting some hardcore twisties before work tomorrow, so Ill know for sure. I still have about 3/4 " chicken strips left (as opposed to about 1/8" with the stockers) even though ive been dragging boots in hard turns. More tomrrow when after I go out and hammer on it a bit.
Oh BTW Daytona, they feel pretty sweet at high speed, took them to about 120 this weekend and aside from the scaryass stock springs it felt
really good.
*edit*--Felt great in the twisties, but I could feel the limit coming. If it starts to bother me Ill drop the pressure a little and see if it helps any. Right now Im at ~36 ish psi front and 38 in the rear. They show no wear whatsoever after the the first 1k. With any luck Theyll last til summer, then Im going to mount some grippy tires because I hope to get down to the dragon as well as ride in the national GS convention here in WV next year. The gummies will be toast before august.
