Title: Progressive 420 failure
Post by: RA Bandit on April 08, 2006, 01:56:40 AM
After two years and ~8,000 miles of moderate riding, my 1200's aftermarket Progressive 420 rear shock appears to have sprung a leak -- there was a small puddle of oil on the floor to boot.

My ride is now very "alive" and un-damped.

Has anyone encountered this?  Has anyone had a rebuild and know the cost of this service from Progressive?  How much should you spend on a rebuild vs. buying new?

Should I consider something else if the cost to refurb is relatively high?

Thanks for your interest.

I have the Progressive 420 and ridin it for about 80,000 miles and no problems. I think your is definetly a defect failure and not wear. I would call Progressive and see if they might be generous and warranty it even though its beyond its first year. If not ask them or holeshot about the rebuild kits.

If Progressive won't help, Race Tech does rebuilds/revavles for a good price.
