Questions for BHolland

I don't know why I'd never checked out the links in Bholland's sig until now, but when I did, it left me with some questions.

First off, beautiful bike!

I used to subscribe to a couple of the Bandit e-mail lists when I was a Bandit newbie and there was a bike there owned by a "Joe Williams" that looks strikingly like yours. I liked the looks of the bike so much, I saved a picture. Is this your bike a few years ago?

Next, looking at your dyno chart, the print numbers say Max Tq is 91.2, but the curve looks awfully close to the 95 line... close enough to be 94, is this a plotting error? I also noticed the horsepower and torque curves don't cross at 5250 RPM, as they typically do on most dynos. Why is that?

yes it is the same bike, I went to Houston on Mother's Day, 3 or 4 years ago and got it from him. It was a 1216 at that time. I was looking at it and a busa, both for sale on the internet, and decided on the bandit because of the Gsxrs that I have with blown motors, from dragracing.
I still have a lot of parts, but have sold or given away a lot.
The torque is on a 40 to 100 scale, and the horsepower is on 0 to 160 scale, but the horsepower and torque are both about 78 at 5252.
Also you will notice the jump at 5400 rpms. That is the flatslide carbs, they have a fuel pump and are squirting gas into each carb when you open the throttle, that is why it is rich at first, and then leans out above 6000 rpms.
On the dragstrip, you go past 6000 leaving the line, and never drop under agin.
If I didn't have a Suzuki, I would have a Kawasaki

:duh: I saw the different scales, but was dense enough not to put it together.  :duh:

I thought there were just too many similarities for it not to be the same bike.
IIRC, the white lettering under the "SUZUKI" in the pic I posted says 1216CC, right?

That is correct, 1216 cc is what it was when I got it. I blew that engine on the strip and then built the 1246 cc. When I dynoed the bike, I was at a race where they had a Horsepower shoot-out in the pits, mainly for spectators who had ridden their bikes to the race. There were 3 Hayabusas that dynoed ahead of me, and the highest one was 154 hp, and my 155 hp was the highest they had at the time. My buddy's ZRX, with 1370 cc stroker motor, later dynoed 171 hp, and he was the highest of that day.

1998 Suzuki Bandit, J&E 13 to 1- 1246 Piston Kit, Lazer Level 3 Ported Head w/ over-size stainless steel, 30mm intake and 26mm exhaust, valves, APE bronze valve guides, Heavy Duty Valve Springs.
