Title: Spanner Wrench
Post by: gnip on April 25, 2007, 01:59:30 AM
I believe that the setting on my bike has been stagnant.  That is, when I tried to adjust my rear shock's preload - the wrench bent.  My friend in Atlanta sugested a little WD40, yeah, and a new wrench!  Where can I get a decent one?  And, does anyone have settings on the stock shock they think are good?  I am a commuter and like a softer ride, but I like to stiffin up the preload for a passenger, ( :pop: wife on weekends).  I'm thinkin 2 & 2 and go to 3 with her.  4 is to stiff for Cleveland roads.

I don't have any assistance to offer, but I will say that I just this past weekend got the rear suspension to budge after a few years of an *occasional* try at it.  The room you have to work with, that weird-ass wrench, and the stiffness of the spring all conspire against you.

As to your desired settings...it's up to individual preferences, and as you say, how heavy te load.  I like a little stiffer ride, and keep the air in my car tires a little higher than recommended.  But my friend has a Jeep which I think offers a miserable ride, while she is looking to replace it with another one.

I have a 1G B12 shock on my 1G B6. I bought a Progressive Suspension wrench and it works perfectly with that shock.

Thanks for the INfO I've found a few places that sell them.  If I get one I like, I'll post for everyone.

My dad works for a machine shop.  He bought over a few wrenches used to adjust their equiptment, "the problem is solv-ed".  He took the kit wrench and will probably try to build one for me.
