Stebel Horn trouble
« on: January 10, 2007, 12:07:54 AM »
Need a little help here with my new Stebel horn.  I picked up one of the Twisted Throttle horn wiring kits with it as well.  Here is the issue.  Everything is wired in per the instructions, BUT, the horn works when I turn on my ignition.  Not the horn switch.  Turn the key and , wham.  It is very loud.  Has anyone else had his happen?  Thanks!

My guess is that you tapped into the wrong wire.  You might check my earlier install thread found in this link.

The horn wiring is odd since the ground side of the horn switched so I'd start there.  If you can post any info about wire color, etc. maybe we can be of more help.

txbanditrydr,
I saw your write up.  The wiring kit I got with the horn is suppose to take care of all the guess work.  But, not in this case.  I get the horn to work when it is connected to the orange and green wire running directly to the stock horn.  The problem is that it works when you turn the ignition switch on.  At that point it is constant.  No horn switch.  When  I connect to the blue and black wire running to the existing horn, nothing...

txbanditrydr,
Got it goin...I read your opst on how to several more times and it jumped out at me, finally.  "Use the diagram on the horn package that is for "ground lead to horn button"."

Getting one of these monsters in the mail today and was looking for some Bandit 1250 specific install instructions.
I'm not sure I'm going to mount under the fairing yet and still looking for options. Has this ( http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=4236 ) been moved elswhere? Link is dead for me.

Thanks

Hmmmm.... that link should be good.  Might have something to do with transfer to the new server.  We'll check it out and post up shortly.   :thanks:

Edit.... well, I found it in the FAQ's for 1200's so it's still there.  Here's the link as copied...

We'll see if that works... Yep, it works now - it needed a couple of extra characters for some reason.
