There has been a fellow Bandito in here that posted pics as he went and put a R1 tail end on . Stripped the bike down, cut off the tail end, welded tabs for the R1 sub frame, powder coated. And pics of the finished product. He did a exelet job, looks good. But I don't remember where its at. Someone else will chime in and help out.

Guess you missed this one on a first Gen!

ya i have seen a lot of 1g swaps, this is the first time i want a 1g lol, The frame in the 1g rolls downward off the backbone but the 2gs rolls over the motor and back up to the subframe making chopping it cleanly nearly impossible:(

Ain't that the truth. Thats when I'd like a 1G myself.

Never thought that much about it but when you look into it the majority of them you see are 1st G!
But here are few out there!

Wish I would have known, I've got another swingarm in the garage I could have sent it to you and you would have had less down time! :duh:
-
lol its all good its only going to be out for 3 days and i need some time to machine the plugs to put in my frame when i cut it.
-
o ya and i forgot to add that i got the busa rear shock to install as well

 Actully, the one I was referring to was yet another one from this site. He cut the subframe off leaving just ehough stub to mount tabs for a R1 aluminum subframe.Turned out awsome, very pro job.
When a Bandit takes a flop, its prone to bending the subframe. When mine was borrowed and crashed (2002 I think?) I found a 2000 frame for my 98 on ebay. Then I crashed it again a few yrs back in turn4 @ Nelson Ledges. It bent the subframe, but no other damage and was able to chain it down a bend it back.If I wasn't able to straighten it back out, that would have been the route to go. I was thinking of a bussa or GSX-R rear. I since retired it from track duties, and use the SV for that. She's been living a saver life doing comuting duties.

Still think this is one clean set up, I'm looking to do the inverted forks next!

Cheers Mongo, although I only chopped some subframe off as opposed to altering its direction.
This one is a beautiful example of how to do it:
