I'm a new member and I have a '98 bandit 1200. I'm adding some accessories, one of which is a Suzuki luggage rack. I got it off e-bay, with no instructions. Can someone tell me how to mount it to the bike?
Thanks

Red,
If it's the same rack that I have, you have to take the grab rails off, and then reinstall them, with the rack mounts underneath.

Thanks.I thought it might be that way,but I wasn't sure if longer screws were needed or if something needed to be placed between the rack and tail section to keep it from rubbing the paint off.So I'll just install it like you said.

There should be 4 hollow, bushing things that are the diameter of the hole in the plastic bodywork, and are kind of like spacers.
They look like 3/4 inch or so sections of pipe....
been a while since I had the Suz rack, but grab handle screws go through them. I think you need longer screws....
All the above stuff comes with the rack when you buy it new....

Excuse me, I`m a little confused. Since when did Suzuki make a luggage rack for a 98 Bandit (1st generation)?
I know Givi makes them for the 1st gen Bandit, but Suzuki?
I searched & searched but I cannot find anything when it comes to a luggage rack for a Bandit (except for Givi). I1m not interested in the Givi ones.
Can someone stear me into the right direction? Please.
I gotta big trip comming up in July and I need a luggage rack. Thanks. Please send pics too!

The Suzuki one has been discontinued, so you're only going to find one of those thru used channels.
Big trip? Need a luggage rack? I can't say enough good things about my Ventura Bike Pack system. You can buy just a rack & brackets, or you can get a package deal with a Sport (luggage) Rack, a Pack Rack and a 45L pack.
Ventura Aerodynamic Bike-Pack System (http://www.cycleventure.com/products/pack_system/index.htm)
Here's a 1G with their Sport Rack:

...and with the Pack Rack and 45L pack being slipped on:

:btw: You can slip the pack on the rack either way, but generally, you put the pack on the front side of the rack if you're riding solo - unless you want the extra leverage for easier wheelies.
...and here's a 2G (mine) putting it to use:

I have a Ventura rack on my 1G too, although the previous owner (who I know) modded the rack so it diddn't push the indicators out. It now mounts up under the rear bodywork, leaving the indicators standard. Then the rack part itself was chopped and rewelded to suit. Overall the Ventura system is great - they are very common on lots of bikes here in Aus.

This probably should be in the "for sale" section, but it seems more applicable here. Sorry moderators!
I've got an OEM Suzuki rack, which I used on my 1st Generation B12 before getting a good deal on my Givi stuff. I also have the generic top case--this also has a passenger backrest--which I used with the rack, for short day trips. The combo was really convenient for picking up food, storing a helmet, but was mainly for my gf's purse and other crap she bought when we were on the road.
When I last packed them up for storage, the Suz rack was in great condition, and the topcase was in fair condition, from use. I was going to eventually post them up on FleaBay, but if someone gives me a reasonable offer here, I'll let them go.
PM me any offers, and I'll send some pics, after finding them in a box (I hopefully marked) in the attic.

Sale pending, thanks for the inquiries.
