Can the carbs be syncronized without an Auxiliary tank by just turning the Pet Pock to PRI?

I always remove my tank and set it on a plastic garbage can right next to the bike. Then I attatch a rubber hose to the bottom of the petcock right to the carbs.

I purchased an extended fuel line (4 feet) and spliced in a connector in the existing line under the fuel tank so whenever I need to synchronize I just pull open the connector, stick in my 4 foot fuel line and place the gas tank way back on the seat on an old towel. This way I know I am getting gravity fuel flow. In the begining when I tried to set it on a chair next to the bike, it would stall due to no gravity fuel flow.

Make sure you plug the vacuum line for the petcock otherwise it will stall.

But to answer your question as to whether you can synchronize without  auxiliary fuel. After you become good at it you will be able to synchronize with just the fuel in the carburetors but I haven’t been able to be that fast but that is what my book says. Make sure you have a fan blowing on the front of the engine because the engine will start to overheat after a few minutes and your reading will become erratic if you take too long without a fan, and it will take a while. Let me know how hard it was to get each gauge vacuum hoses connected to each carburetor and plug them again?

So true.
The bike will run longer than you think ( a few minutes) at 1800 rpm.

It's no sweat, really.. I jsut did mine for the first time and did it solely with the gas in the bowls..
Maybe it was so easy because I'm used to sync'ing slide carbs with the whole lock-nut thing goin on... even got good enough at that to do it with the bowl-fulls..


the lines connect pretty easily,, you just yank off those little caps on top of the carbs, hook it all up, plug the vaccuum hose, and off you go..
