Over the last few months, I've been picking your brains for various things I've wanted to do to my bike. These have included removing rust, swapping mirrors, polishing rims, changing turn signals...
I have to say that this board is a great place! I've learned a lot about bikes, gotten advice on maintenance, and most importantly, learned enough to actually try doing some maintenance and all the mods on my own.
This is my first bike, and it's served me very well so far. Having put almost 10K miles on her in three seasons, I still feel that the bike has a lot to offer, and I continue to be surprised by what it's capable of. I ride with guys with all kinds of bikes and experience, and though the Bandit may not be as pretty or flashy as many of their rides, I've never had trouble keeping up or felt that it's not enough bike.

The mods I've done so far:
- Zero Gravity wind shield
- Sargent seat which I bought off a member
- Flush mount turn signals in front, clear in rear
- Carbon fiber look levers & tank pad
- Holeshot Stage 1 jet kit, slip on, and timing advancer
- Polished rims
- Removed gear rack that came with bike
- Silverstar bulbs
- Double H brake pads in front
Just about the only two things I want to do now is removing the decals and changing the front springs to Progressives...

You have about the same mods I have on my '97 B6 except I haven't had the motivation to strip and polish the rims. Yours look great. Did you do them yourself? Did you hand polish them after stripping?

Tacoman: Yes, I did the polishing myself. I just took aircraft paint remover, applied, and within minutes, the paint started to come off. I waited about an hour, then just took one of those medium bristle bathroom brushes, dipped in water, and brushed it off. I saw that the rims looked good, so I didn't find a need to take steel wool to it like some people advised. It's a pretty quick job, and so easy I wish I'd done it before. Just make sure to wear gloves, as the remover burns!
Jason: I got the frame sliders off eBay. There was a vender a while back who made them himself. I just checked, but didn't see anything listed. If I remember his name or see them there, I'll let you know.
Kevin: We're definitely gonna meet up sometime this summer. I was thinking of posting in the NE section about getting together for a ride in the Poconos sometime in June. We can do that, or we can meet up on our own. June looks good for me. I was thinking about Americade, but with a vacation coming up in July, I'm kind of short on the amount of days I can take off.
