Well after the crash of '07 :bomb: the '08 version of my bike needed some touch ups to cover scratches...as well as things I didn't like (shiny things really) I painted some last night...it seemed like a good idea at the time now I'm not so sure.
The trouble with having a bike unlike anybody elses is that you have to take risks and don't ever really know how things turn out till you try them.
The idea...give the flat black some 'gold' accents, not shiny gold, but a textured sort of finish. Here's the results. I will actually put these on the bike as they are now, even though right now I'm not crazy about it. Maybe it will grow on me. (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2075/2393367094_f4a76dd579.jpg)

keep in mind the tank is just sitting there and still needs to be painted flat black again...am waiting for the weather to improve so i can do that outside.

Ought to come out nice. :thumb:

Holy crap - I like that a lot!

Add some gold rim tape and maybe gold paint on the fork lowers and I think it will look GREAT.
I like the idea of flat black with gold.
-
I played around with gold paint on a few bits and pieces and it never seemed to look right. I think the only way to get away with that colour is via anodizing and that aint cheap...
-
Nice job on the paint. I prefer the more muted colours like gun metal grey or titanium.

It's my school colors :bigok:
I'm not a big fan of gold, but that turned out really nice. I think it helps that it's more of a flat/muted gold. Lookin' good!

I'd actually thought of this...but it's such a strange color so that i think gold rim tape may look out of place...chances are tan rim tape would match more. Guess I'll have to see

yes I'm afraid of this too, the whole idea came from the anodizing on the center of my front brake rotor

thats the greatest irony of all. People are always telling me to add color, or other shiny bits. And so far it's been a totally flat black, with any additions being bare aluminum. The only way I can even convince myself to put it together as it is now is that at the very least it doesn't look very 'bling' and won't stand out too much (i hope) but then a flat black fairingless bike ALWAYS stands out. At least it does here.

Or flat black fork lowers and paint the calipers gold...
