Title: What jetting for straight pipes and pod filters?
Post by: b1200 on January 27, 2006, 12:22:23 AM
Hi, I have a 99 Bandit 1200, I put in Stage 2 jetting about 7 years ago, and can't remember the numbers of the jets.  Now I've put K&N pod air filters, and am running full headers 4-2-1 with a straight pipe...no canister, just a Harley type metal baffle in a 2 inch pipe.  Yes, its very loud!!  It's a bizarre streetfighter thing....
Anyway, can someone please recommend what jets to put in?  Other than the above mods, the engine is stock.

Thanks very much.
Tim

Holeshot stage 2 uses 147.5 or 152.  I run the 152 in mine, with stock header, holeshot midpipe and D&D can.

thanks for the info.  Have you shimmed your needles?  If so, how much?

The Harley type metal baffle in a 2 inch pipe may be more restrictive than a stock muffler.

No, I did not shim for stage 2, the Holeshot kit gives replacement needles.

OK, here's my progress so far....
I discovered that I had installed a Dynojet kit in there 7 years ago, including adjustable needles...yea!!!  And there were 127.5 jets in there.  I just happened to have some 137.5 jets laying around, so I put those in there.  I raised the needles one more click (to the 3rd notch) and unscrewed the mixture screws 4 turns (they were 2.5).
As soon as I get the tank finished painted, I'll fire her up.

Not gonna bother cluttering the board with new posts... Just gonna bump this one. I'm running Dale's kit with a 147.5 mj. Looking to run open head. Any further info on jetting specs?

If you have Dale's kit, just call Dale.

His customer service is excellent and he knows what he is doing.

However, please don't post his jetting specs or tuning instructions.  That is proprietary information for his customers.
